hereinafter called “the said electric lines,” and it is expedient accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the said section :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under section two of the aforesaid Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to erect and maintain the said electric lines for lighting, power, and heating purposes.

SCHEDULE.

  1. THE ROUTES OF THE ELECTRIC LINES.

Those routes commencing at the power-house in Section 12, Block VII, Kidnapper Survey District, Hawke’s Bay Land District, on the western bank of the Maraetotara River, and running (1) in a north-westerly direction to the dwellinghouse of John Chambers, all in the said Section 12; (2) in a north-easterly direction through portion of the said Section 12, across the Maraetotara River, and through portion of Section 2, Block VII, Kidnapper Survey District, to the homestead of D. Riggir in the said Section 2. As the said routes are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 39086, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

  1. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.

The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (a) of clause 2 of the regulations.

The generating voltage shall be approximately 122 volts between the terminals.

  1. DATUM TEMPERATURE.

For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be taken as 12 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. NOTICES re EXTENSIONS, ETC.

Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re commencement of work (Regulation 44) and re extensions and alterations (Regulation 49), should be sent to the Public Works Engineer at present stationed at Napier, and to the Telegraph Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at present stationed at Napier.

  1. CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY.

The charge for electrical energy shall not exceed 1s. per unit for lighting purposes, and 6d. per unit for motor-power, heating, or cooking purposes; provided that “lighting purposes” shall include the operation of motor generators for lighting purposes.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine; but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of February, 1916.

Present :

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that no person shall lay, construct, place, put up, or use any electric line except under the authority of a license issued by the Governor in Council under that Act :

And whereas the Reefton Electric Light and Power Company (Limited) (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”)

desires to erect electric lines within the area of supply as defined in the Schedule hereto, and hereinafter called “the area of supply,” and it is expedient accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the said section :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under section two of the aforesaid Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to erect and maintain electric lines for lighting, power, and heating purposes within the area of supply hereinafter described, such electric lines at present proposed to be erected being indicated by means of red lines shown on the plan marked P.W.D. 37985, and deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District.

SCHEDULE.

  1. AREA OF SUPPLY.

The area of supply comprises portion of the Inangahua County, including that part known as the Township of Reefton, bounded on the west by a line commencing at a point about 6 chains north-west of the Reefton Railway-station and running in a southerly direction approximately parallel to Crampton Road in the said township to a point about 4 chains south-west of the Occidental Hotel, on the south by a line commencing at the last-mentioned point and running in an easterly direction approximately parallel to Broadway in the said township for a distance of about 128 chains, thence towards the east by a line running at right angles to the last-mentioned line and in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 28 chains, thence towards the north by a line running at right angles to the last-mentioned line and in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 55 chains to Donovan Street in the said township, thence again towards the east by the eastern side of the said Donovan Street and a line being a continuation of the said eastern side of Donovan Street to a point about 35 chains from the northern end of Donovan Street, thence again towards the north by a line running in a westerly direction from the last-mentioned point to the point of commencement; as indicated by a distinctive border coloured red on P.W.D. 37985, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
