Applications invited for the Position of Assistant Matrons (Two), Justice Department, Addington Prison.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 24th January, 1916, for the position of Assistant Matrons (two), Justice Department, Addington Prison.

  1. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £90 per annum; maximum, £110.

North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.—
Notice o Intention to levy a Rate.

Valuation Department,
Wellington, 23rd December, 1915.

THE Valuer-General hereby notifies that, after the expiration of fourteen days from the date of this notice, it is his intention to levy, under the provisions of the Rating Act, 1908, the Rating Amendment Act, 1910, and the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, a rate of 1/10th of a penny in the pound on all rateable property situated in that portion of the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid District that is within the County of Chatham Islands, such rate to be for the period commencing on the 1st day of April, 1915, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1916, and to be payable in one sum on the 17th February, 1916, to the Postmaster, Chatham Islands, or to the Valuer-General, Wellington.

The rate-book is now open for inspection at the Post-office, Chatham Islands.

The excess of the arrivals in New Zealand over the departures therefrom during the month of December, 1915, was therefore 527 persons, as against 1,527 in the corresponding month of 1914.
