Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of Borough of Gisborne.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the Borough of Gisborne, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor praying that the said area may be excluded from the said Borough and included in the Town District of Mangapapa. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM BOROUGH OF GISBORNE AND INCLUDED IN MANGAPAPA TOWN DISTRICT.

All that area in the Borough of Gisborne bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Taruheru River in line with the north-western side of Lytton Road; thence along the north-western side of the road being the north-eastern extension of Lytton Road, north of the Taruheru River, for a distance of 400 links; thence along a line parallel to and 400 links distant from the left bank of the said Taruheru River to the south-eastern corner of Mangapapa Town District; thence along a line being the production of the south-eastern boundary of that town district to the Taruheru River, and along the left bank of that river to the place of commencement.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’, Tobacconists’, Booksellers and Stationers’, News-agents’, and Fancy-goods Dealers’ Shops in the Borough of Te Kuiti, under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’, tobacconists’, booksellers and stationers’, news-agents’, and fancy-goods dealers’ shops in the Borough of Te Kuiti, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., except that during the six working-days preceding Christmas Day, the night before the Te Kuiti Races, and the night of Te Kuiti Race Day the time of closing shall be 8 p.m.:

And whereas the Te Kuiti Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades mentioned within the Borough of Te Kuiti:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 10th day of January, 1916, all such shops in the Borough of Te Kuiti shall be closed in accordance with such requisition; provided that such shops shall not be kept open after 1 p.m. on Thursday, unless some other day in the same week is observed for the statutory half-holiday in pursuance of section 19 of the Act.
