Situated about eleven miles from Omarama, two miles being by formed road and the remaining nine miles by unformed dray-track. The run comprises first-class mountain-slopes, which are well clad with tussock and native grasses. The aspect generally is easterly and south-easterly. Well watered by Waitaki and Ahuriri Rivers and their tributaries. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 6,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing and a stone hut.

Run 551, Class A: Area, 9,840 acres; term twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £300; valuation for improvements, £343 5s.

Situated about four miles and a half from Omarama, two miles being by formed road and two miles and a half by unformed dray-track. The run comprises first-class mountain-slopes, which are well clad with tussock and native grasses. The general aspect is south-westerly. Well watered by Ahuriri River, Totara Creek, and branches. Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 6,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing.

Run 552, Class A: Area, 9,531 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £290; valuation for improvements, £345 5s. 6d.

Situated about three miles and a half from Omarama, two miles being by a formed road and a mile and a half by an unformed dray-track. The run comprises first-class mountain-slopes, which are well clad with tussock and native grasses. There is a small area of good swamp towards the foothills. The general aspect is south-westerly. Well watered by the Ahuriri River and tributaries. Altitude, 1,450 ft. to 6,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing and hut.

Run 553, Class A: Area, 1,688 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £100; valuation for improvements, £7 10s. 6d.

Situated about two miles from Omarama Post-office by a formed road. The run comprises ridgy and flat land, all of which is well clad with tussock and native grasses. The flats contain some good swamp and an area of first-class cultivable land. Watered by the Ahuriri River and tributaries. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing.

Run 554, Class A: Area, 2,195 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £95; valuation for improvements, £9.

Situated about four miles and a half from Omarama by a formed road. The run comprises ridgy and flat land, all of which is well clad with tussock and native grasses. The flats contain some good swamp and an area of cultivable land. Watered by swamp and by a tributary of the Ahuriri River. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing.

Run 555, Class A: Area, 3,123 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £190; valuation for improvements, £29 1s.

Situated about five miles from Omarama by a formed road. The run comprises flat and ridgy land, the whole being well clad with tussock and native grasses. The slopes have a southerly to a westerly aspect. Watered by several gullies. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 4,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing.

Ahuriri, Campbell, Longslip, Longslipside, and Ohau Lake Survey Districts.

Run 556, Class A: Area, 37,900 acres; term, twenty-one years; upset annual rental, £150; valuation for improvements, £211 14s. 6d.

Situated about sixteen miles from Omarama Post-office, three miles being by formed road and thirteen miles unformed, but a dray-track winds along most of the unformed portion. For the most part the run comprises high mountainous country carrying good feed (consisting of snow-grass, tussock, and native grasses) on the lower slopes. First class for summer pasture. Well watered by branches of the Ahuriri River. Altitude, 3,000 ft. to 7,600 ft. above sea-level. The improvements consist of fencing.

Each licensee shall during the second and every succeeding year of his license plant with suitable trees to the satisfaction of the Commissioner an area of at least one acre on some part of his run. The number of trees so planted upon every acre shall be at least 1,000. The areas planted shall be securely fenced in with a rabbit-proof fence; all failures shall be from time to time replanted as may be found necessary, and the plantations shall be protected, trimmed, and maintained during the term of the license to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The Crown reserves the right to refuse to accept the bid of any unmarried man of military age unless he can produce evidence of rejection from active service.

The purchaser of each run will be required to take up his residence on the run within one year of the date of license, and such residence must be continuous to the end of the term.

Possession will be given on 1st May, 1916. Where road-deviations have been made the existing roads are to be left open for traffic until the new roads are formed.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for lease by public auction at this office at 11 o’clock a.m. on Friday, the 18th day of February, 1916, for a term of ten years, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and amendments.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—HOKIANGA COUNTY.—RAWENE TOWN.

SECTION 247c: Area, 13 perches; annual rental (minimum), £20.

Situated adjoining wharf at Rawene, in main street. Weighted with £700, being valuation for improvements consisting of store and dwelling.

ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. The lease shall be subject to resumption by six months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Crown.
  2. The lessee shall have no right to compensation, either for improvements put on the land or on account of the afore said possible resumption, or for any other cause; but he may, on the expiration or sooner determination of the lease, remove all buildings or fences erected by him, but not otherwise.
  3. The lessee shall not sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of his interest in the lease without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
  4. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of all noxious weeds on the land, and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all noxious weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
  5. The lessee shall discharge all rates, taxes, charges, and other assessments that may become due and payable.
  6. Rental payments in arrear for two calendar months shall render the lease liable to termination; or a breach of covenant in the lease, expressed or implied, shall entitle the Crown to re-enter and determine the lease.
  7. One half-year’s rent at the rate bid and value of improvements, together with £1 1s. lease fee, to be deposited on the fall of the hammer.
