Aongatete Butter-factory—one mile by coach-road and one
mile by rough dray-road.
Section 8, Block I: Area, 380 acres; capital value, £170;
half-yearly rent, £3 8s.
Altitude, 20 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. A few acres
level, balance broken, covered with manuka and fern, except
about 20 acres of light mixed forest mostly manuka and
rewarewa. Soil poor clay, with red spurs; well watered.
Distant one mile and three-quarters from Aongatete Butter-
factory—half a mile by coach-road, balance rough dray-road.
Section 9, Block I: Area, 305 acres; capital value, £290;
half-yearly rent, £5 16s.
Altitude, 100 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
broken country, covered with mixed forest comprising tawa,
manuka, rewarewa, and a few puriri and rimu trees of no
commercial value. Soil of fair second-class quality; well
watered by small streams. Distant about three miles from
Aongatete Butter-factory—half a mile by coach-road, two
miles by rough dray-road, balance bush track.
Section 10, Block I: Area, 336 acres; capital value, £210;
half-yearly rent, £4 4s.
Altitude, 80 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. About 30 acres
undulating on north side, balance broken; all covered with
fairly heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, &c., and a
few rimu-trees, with thick undergrowth of scrub. Clay soil,
of fair quality; well watered by Waitakohe Stream. Distant
about three miles from Aongatete Butter-factory by formed
road (Thompson’s Track).
Section 11, Block I: Area, 274 acres; capital value, £170;
half-yearly rent, £3 8s.
Altitude, 50 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
broken land; about 100 acres light mixed forest comprising
tawa, manuka, &c., balance manuka and fern country. Soil
fair in parts, with red clay spurs; well watered. Distant
about one mile and a half from the Aongatete Butter-factory
by formed road.
Tauranga County.—Te Mania Parish.
Sections 66 and 76: Area, 514 acres; capital value, £310;
half-yearly rent, £6 4s.
Altitude, 20 ft. to 100 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
broken land; about 10 acres light forest, comprising tawa,
&c., balance manuka and fern. Soil poor clay, on sandstone
formation; well watered by streams. Distant about one
mile and a half from Aongatete Butter-factory by formed
road.
Section 73: Area, 168 acres; capital value, £110; half-
yearly rent, £2 4s.
Altitude, 20 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
country, covered with short scrub and fern. Poor clay soil,
on sandstone formation; water can be obtained by sinking
about 20 ft. Distant about one mile from Aongatete Butter-
factory by formed road.
Ohinemuri County.—Aroha Survey District.
Section 30, Block IV: Area, 96 acres 0 roods 27 perches;
capital value, £100; half-yearly rent, £2.
Weighted with £1 16s., valuation for fencing.
Altitude, 450 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Hilly and
broken fern and manuka country, part ploughable. Soil a
light sandy loam of poor quality, on clay subsoil; poorly
watered by swampy gully. Distant about four miles from
Waihi Post-office by formed and metalled cart-road.
Bay of Islands County.—Hukerenui Survey District.
Section 11, Block III: Area, 340 acres 0 roods 12 perches;
capital value, £380; half-yearly rent, £7 12s.
Altitude, 800 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level. Level and
undulating to broken land, some small patches of mixed
forest in gullies, balance open land with a fair amount of
rough feed. Soil of fair second-class quality, stony in places,
on sandstone formation; moderately watered by streams.
Distant about seven miles and three-quarters from Whaka-
para Railway-station by good formed cart-road.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish.
Section 255: Area, 10 acres 3 roods 12 perches; capital
value, £140; half-yearly rent, £2 16s.
Altitude, 30 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
country, all ploughable, covered with fern and manuka.
Soil a stiff loam, on clay subsoil; section is part of a worked-
out gumfield; fairly watered by swampy stream. Distant
about three miles from Henderson by good cart-road, about
two miles and three-quarters of which is metalled.

this tenth day of December, one thousand nine

Opening Education Reserve in Westland Land District for
Selection on Renewable Lease.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the
Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910, I, Arthur Wil-
liam de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
education reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall
be open for selection on renewable lease for the term of
thirty-three years, with right of renewal for successive
periods of thirty-three years, on Tuesday, the twentieth
day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen,
at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do
also declare that the said reserve shall be leased under and
subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND COUNTY.—WATAROA
SURVEY DISTRICT.
Education Endowment Reserve.—First-class Land.
Lot 1 of Reserve 124, Block XIII: Area, 217 acres; capital
value, £570; half-yearly rent, £11 8s.
Lot 2 of Reserve 124, Block XIII: Area, 234 acres; capital
value, £620; half-yearly rent, £12 8s.
Lot 3 of Reserve 124, Block XIII: Area, 200 acres; capital
value, £280; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
Lot 4 of Reserve 124, Block XIII: Area, 200 acres; capital
value, £480; half-yearly rent, £9 12s.
This reserve is situated on the southern side of the Wai-
tangi-taona River, two miles from Matainui Post and
Telephone Office and cheese-factory. Access is by road
which will shortly be formed to the Waitangi-taona River, a
distance of about one mile and a half, and thence by river-
bed and ford across the river. A road will be formed to give
access to Lots 3 and 4. The block comprises flat land of
good quality, carrying light bush of ribbon-wood, black scrub,
and totara, with some patches of white-pine; portions of
Lots 3 and 4 are swampy. Good deep sandy soil resting on
shingle; well watered by creeks. The sections are suitable
for dairying.

this sixteenth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and sixteen.

Amendment to Regulations for New Zealand Military Forces,
1913.—Fired Cartridge-cases and Empty Ammunition-boxes.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority
conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its
amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby make the following regulation in substitution for
paragraph six hundred and forty-one of the Regulations for
the Military Forces of New Zealand, 1916, the cancellation
of which was published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
twelfth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and
sixteen; and I do hereby declare that the regulation hereby
made shall have effect as from the date of publication thereof
in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
SECTION XIII.—RIFLE CLUBS.
Arms and Ammunition.
AFTER paragraph six hundred and forty add:—
“641. Fired cases of all ammunition supplied gratuitously
must be returned to the magazine-keeper of the district from
which ammunition is received. Fired cartridge-cases will be
