- Lessee to have the right to any bush on the run for fencing and firewood, but not for sale.
- Three months before the expiration of the lease, a valuation to be made by arbitrator, of all improvements, consisting of necessary buildings and fencing, the amount of such valuation to be payable by the incoming to the outgoing lessee. In the event of the lessee desiring to effect improvements (fencing and buildings) in addition to those already on the land, it will be necessary to obtain the Land Board’s permission, otherwise such improvements will not be made a subject of valuation.
- Interest at the rate of 10 per centum per annum to be paid on rent in arrear.
- Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions violated.
Possession will be given on 1st March, 1917.

Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 11th January, 1917.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier, on Friday, 12th January, 1917, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—WAIPAWA COUNTY.—TAKAPAU SURVEY DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
SECTION 28, Block VI: Area, 132 acres 2 roods 24 perches; capital value, £2,060; instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £103; half-yearly rent on lease, £41 4s.
Undulating country, in grass; all ploughable. Water will have to be obtained by sinking. Fronts on to Ormondville-Takapau Road, and is only a short distance from Whenuahou Railway-siding. Improvements included in price of the land comprise fencing, valued at £52 17s. 6d. The successful applicant will be liable for half cost of fence now being erected on the northern boundary between Sections 23 and 28.

Pastoral Run in Canterbury Land District for Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run is open for license by discharged soldiers under Part VI of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915. Applications will be received at this office and at the local Lands and Survey Office, Timaru, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 20th February, 1917.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the local Lands and Survey Office, Timaru, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, 22nd February, 1917.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—MACKENZIE COUNTY.—BURKE SURVEY DISTRICT.
National Endowment.—Class A.
PASTORAL RUN 244: Area, 2,200 acres; term of license, twenty-one years; half-yearly rental, £61 7s.
Weighted with £100, valuation for fencing, which may be paid for in cash, or in forty-two half-yearly instalments of £3 18s.
Situated about thirteen miles from Fairlie Railway-station by motor-road. Altitude, 1,900 ft. to 4,500 ft. Nearly all hills, covered with tussock and grass; well watered. An easement 25 links wide is reserved, covering the water-race and creek supplying the Sawdon Homestead with water.
The successful applicant will require to take a license (expiring at the same time as the run license) under section 59 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, over the homestead-site adjoining. Area, 60 acres 2 roods 6 perches; half-yearly rental, £8 11s. 9d. Weighted with £255, valuation for buildings consisting of house, stable, &c., which may be paid for in cash, or by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £9 18s. 11d.
Residence is compulsory.

Reserve in Taranaki Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for lease of the undermentioned reserve will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 20th December, 1916, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1906, and amendments.
Possession will be given on the 8th January, 1917.
SCHEDULE.
SECTION 110, Block XII, Cape Survey District: Area, 26 acres; minimum annual rent, £25; term, five years.
The section comprises principally flat land, with one or two small hills. All ploughable, and laid down in English grasses; ring-fenced and subdivided. There is a four-roomed house with outbuildings on the land; house in a fairly good state of repair.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.
- Six months’ rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease fee, must accompany each tender.
- The lease shall be for the term stated, and shall be subject to termination by twelve months’ notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.
- No declaration is required. Residence is not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, or on account of the aforesaid possible resumption, or for any other cause.
- The lessee shall pay all rates, taxes, and assessments that may become due and payable.
- The rent shall be payable half-yearly in advance.
- The lessee shall have no right to subject, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
- The land shall not be cropped nor broken up except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
- The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbrier on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all noxious weeds or plants as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
- House and fences to be yielded up in good order and condition on expiration or determination of lease.
- The lease will be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee fails to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within twenty-one days after the date on which the same ought to have been fulfilled.
Tenders should be addressed “The Commissioner of Crown Lands, New Plymouth,” and marked on the outside “Tender for Reserve.”
