Declaring Crown Lands in the Westland Mining District, Westland Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any Crown lands within any mining district not held under lease or license, or for which a lease or license has been cancelled, to be open for disposal, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-three of the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on Monday, the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, for disposal on renewable lease, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act; and I do also declare that for the purposes of section one hundred and twenty-seven of the said Act the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be light-bush land.

And I do hereby provide that, after the first half-year's rent has been paid by the selector, the further instalments of rent payable by him for a period of two years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—GREY COUNTY.—PUNAKAIKI SURVEY DISTRICT.—WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.

(Exempt from Rent for Two Years.)

National Endowment.—Second-class Light-bush Land.

SECTIONS 2598, 2599, and 3244, Block I: Area, 549 acres 0 roods 7 perches; capital value, £280; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.

Weighted with £100, valuation for clearing and grassing.

Altitude, from 10 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Broken forest-covered country, on gravel formation, with limestone escarpments and some good flats on Punakaiki River; all bush-clad; suitable for pastoral purposes. Access by Barrytown—Brighton Road, which is formed for horse traffic. Twenty-five miles from Greymouth, and seven miles from Barrytown.

Section 2592, Block I: Area, 350 acres; capital value, £180; half-yearly rent, £3 12s.

Altitude, from 20 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Comprises broken limestone hills, covered with bush of birch, rata, and red-pine. Well watered, suitable for pastoral purposes. Fronts Inland Road, which is a formed pack-track. Distant from Greymouth twenty-eight miles, and from Barrytown eleven miles.

Land proclaimed as a Road in Block II, Colville Survey District, Auckland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consents of the owner and mortgagees of the land described in the Schedule hereto, and of the Coromandel County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said land is situated, proclaim as a road the land described in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a road: 2 acres 1 rood 13 perches.

Portion of Section 2, Block II, Colville Survey District.

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/191, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consents of the lessee of the land described in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Wallace County Council, being the local authority in whose district the said land is situated, proclaim as a road the land described in the said Schedule; and also do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto, which is not required.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

LAND PROCLAIMED AS A ROAD.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a road 1 acre 3 roods 24·6 perches.
