Council of the County of Wairoa, is published in
accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1913.

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposed Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of
the Mahia - Table Cape Special-rating District taken on the
18th day of November, 1916, on the proposal of the Wairoa
County Council to borrow the sum of £500 for forming and
metalling Mahia - Table Cape Road, the number of votes
recorded for the proposal was 20, and the number of votes
recorded against the proposal was nil.
I therefore declare the proposal was carried.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers
in the Hydro-electric Special-rating District taken on the
24th day of November, 1916, on the proposal of the Feathers-
ton County Council to borrow the sum of £12,000 for the
construction and installation of a hydro-electric scheme in a
portion of the county in the vicinity of Featherston, the
number of votes recorded for the proposal was 51, and the
number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

“NEW ZEALAND NAUTICAL ALMANAC AND TIDE-TABLES”
FOR 1917.—ADDENDA TO TIDE-TABLES FOR 1917.

USERS of the “New Zealand Nautical Almanac and
Tide-tables” for 1917 are requested to make the
following addenda at foot of each page of the Tide-tables for
1917, viz. :—
The tides are placed in order of occurrence. A com-
parison of consecutive heights will indicate whether it
is high or low water.
This plan was adopted in 1915 in the British Admiralty
Tide-tables, and for many years past in the Official Tide-
tables of the United States of America. The 1915 Tide-
tables are now used in the Board of Trade Examinations for
Masters and Mates.

Notice to Mariners No. 94 of 1916.
HOKIANGA RIVER, UPPER PART.—LIGHT IN NARROWS.

Wellington, N.Z., 2nd December, 1916.
NOTICE is hereby given that on and after 12th Decem-
ber, 1916, an automatic Aga acetone-acetylene light
will be shown from a solid concrete circular column 8 ft.
above H.W. on Takataka Rock, locally known as Akuao, at
the northern end of the Narrows, in the upper part of Hoki-
anga River.
The light is on the smaller south end section of the rock,
which has a gut 5 ft. wide between it and the larger section.
The light is a white flashing light showing 0·3 sec. flash and
2·7 secs. eclipse, 200 m/m power, and should be visible for a
distance of about three miles all round the horizon.

Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter vii, page 203.
