extending, enlarging, and augmenting the waterworks or
water service in the said borough: £4,500

Providing, constructing, and completing a tunnel at
Okehu connecting the Mangahoropito Stream, within the
catchment area of the borough, with the Okehu Stream or
the Okehu Waterworks Dam within the said catchment area,
and the supplying or laying water-mains in the said tunnel
for the purpose of carrying water from the said Manga-
horopito Stream to the said Okehu Stream or Okehu Water-
works Dam, and for enlarging and extending the water-
works at Okehu aforesaid, and for all matters and things
incident or relating to the purposes aforesaid: £7,000 -
Providing, constructing, and supplying public urinals
or conveniences, and all works and things necessary or
incidental thereto: £1,500 -
For matters incidental or relating to all or to any one
or more of the foregoing purposes: £500
the Wanganui Borough Council hereby makes and levies a
special rate of threepence in the pound on the rateable value
(on the basis of the annual value) of all rateable property of
the Borough of Wanganui, the boundaries whereof are defined
in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th day of December,
1912, No. 92, at page 3618. And that such rate shall be an
annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and
be payable half-yearly on the first day of May and the first
day of November in each and every year during the currency
of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the
loan is fully paid off.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses
of the Borough of Wanganui was hereto affixed to the above-
written resolution by order of the Council of the said borough
this 17th day of October, 1916, by and in the presence of—

WAIKOHU COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE, MADE ON 13TH DAY
OF OCTOBER, 1916.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the
Waikohu County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £1,400, authorized to be raised by the
Waikohu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act,
for erecting a bridge over the Wharekopae River at Sem-
men’s Crossing, the said Waikohu County Council hereby
makes and levies a special rate of one-eighth of a penny in
the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of
the Semmen’s Bridge Special-rating Area, comprising Sub. 1,
Okahuatiu 1; part Sub. 2 of 1A, Wharekopae; part Sub. 2
of 1A, Wharekopae; part 8, Tahoma 2c 2 No. 2; 17 of
Tahoma 2; 19, 20 of Tahoma 2c 1, Sec. 3; part Tahoma 2F,
Sec. 2; and Reserves 1 of Tahoma 2F 2 and 1 of Tahoma 2c 1,
Sec. 3; 17A, Tahoma; Sec. 4, Block IX, Sec. 2, Block VII,

TAUMARUNUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Taumarunui Borough
Council, on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Bur-
gesses of the Borough of Taumarunui, purposes to take, under
the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, the land described
in the Schedule hereto as a site for municipal buildings.
And further notice is hereby given that a plan has been
prepared showing the land required to be taken, a copy
whereof (marked “A”) is deposited at the Town Clerk’s
office situate at the Taumarunui Borough Council Chambers,
Huia Street, Taumarunui, and is open for inspection by all
persons during ordinary office hours, viz.: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
except on Saturdays, when the office will be closed as from
noon.
All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in
writing any well-founded objections to such works or to the
taking of such land, and to send such writing, within forty
(40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the said
Taumarunui Borough Council, addressed to the Town Clerk
at the office of the said Borough Council situate as aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing one acre, more
or less, being part of Section XIVA, Township of Taumaru-
nui, situate within the said borough. As the same is more
particularly delineated in the said plan marked “A,” and
therein outlined in red.

public works the parcels of land described in the Schedule
hereto are required to be taken.
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the said
parcels of land required to be taken is deposited in the public
office of the Clerk to the said Council situate in Taupiri
Street, Te Kuiti, and is open for inspection (without any fee)
by all persons during ordinary office hours. All persons
affected by the execution of the said public works or by the
taking of the said parcels of land, who have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public works or to
the taking of the said parcels of land, must state their objec-
tions in writing, and send the same, within forty days from
the first publication of this notice, to the Clerk of the said
county at the County Offices, Taupiri Street, Te Kuiti.
