petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the Pokeno Road District, resolves, by way of special order, that the said road district be merged in the County of Franklin, and the Board thereof abolished.

I, Joseph Flanagan, Chairman of the Franklin County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the said Council held on Thursday, the 7th day of September, 1916, publicly notified as required by section 97 (c) of the Counties Act, 1908, and duly confirmed at the ordinary monthly meeting of the Council held this 5th day of October, 1916.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Gore and the County of Southland.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Gore are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by an Order in Council dated the 16th day of May, 1916, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, as amended by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1915, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 62, of the 25th day of May, 1916.
And also, in pursuance of the said section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the County of Southland affected by the said Order in Council dated the 16th day of May, 1916, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF GORE.
ALL that area in the Southland Land District, bounded towards the north by Sections 13B, 1 (P.R.), 13C, 9, and 17, Block I, Waikaka Survey District, from the south-western corner of the said Section 13B to a point due north of the easternmost corner of Section 16, Block XXV, Town of East Gore; thence towards the east by a line due south to the Waikaka River; thence towards the south-east generally by the right bank of that river to its confluence with the Mataura River, across that river to a point on its right bank in line with the southern side of Bury Street, in the Town of Gore; thence by the right bank of the said Mataura River to the southern side of Salford Street; thence towards the south by the southern side of that street to and across the main road, by the western side of that road and the western side of Broughton Street to the north-eastern corner of Lot 31 on plan 87 deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence by that lot, 250 links; thence by a line due north, 400 links; thence due west, 750·5 links; thence again due north, 600 links, to the eastern side of Vera Street; thence again due west to Lot 16 on plan 410 deposited as aforesaid; thence towards the west generally by Lots 16, 14, and 12B on said plan 410, Lots 11, 10, and 6 on plan 408 deposited as aforesaid, to Coutts Road; thence due east across Robertson Street to the north-west corner of Lot 58 on plan 750 deposited as aforesaid; thence across said Coutts Road to the south-eastern corner of Lot 3 on plan 408 aforesaid; thence by that lot, Lot 1 on plan 745 deposited as aforesaid, and Lot 7, Block II, on plan 70 deposited as aforesaid, to the south-western corner of Lot 13, Block II aforesaid; thence by the said Lot 13 to Broughton Street, by the western side of that street to Section 135, Hokonui Survey District, by that section, across a road, and by Section 306, Hokonui Survey District, and the production of its southern boundary to the left bank of the Mataura River, and by the left bank of that river to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 13B aforesaid; and thence by a right line to the south-western corner of that section, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF SOUTHLAND.
BOUNDED towards the north generally by Lake County and Vincent County respectively, as described in the First Schedule to the Counties Act, 1876, from the eastern boundary of Wallace County to the north-western corner of Tuapeka County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 111, of the 30th December, 1882; thence towards the east generally by the said Tuapeka County and Clutha County, as described in the] New Zealand Gazette No. 8, of the 6th February, 1913, to the ocean";] thence towards the south generally by the ocean to the mouth of the Waimatuku Stream; and thence towards the west generally by Wallace County as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 12, of the 4th February, 1897: excepting the Boroughs of Invercargill, South Invercargill, Winton, Gore, Mataura, Campbelltown, and the Town Districts of Wyndham and Lumsden.

Constitution of a Special Roading District in terms of Section 50 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913.
PURSUANT to section 50 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, and the regulations thereunder, I do hereby, on the recommendation of the Land Board of the Wellington Land District, declare the lands referred to in the Schedule hereto to be a special district for the purposes of the said section; and such district shall be known as the Riariaki Special Road District.

IT is notified for general information that Proclamations have been issued by the Imperial Government prohibiting the importation to the United Kingdom, except under license of the Board of Trade, of the undermentioned goods.
Licenses will in general be granted only in respect of goods on the way to the United Kingdom or actually purchased at the date of the Proclamation.
Licenses will be granted for the importation of goods sent by post for repairs and return to New Zealand.
All materials for the manufacture of paper, including wood pulp, esparto grass, and linen and cotton rags.
Paper and cardboard, including strawboard, pasteboard, millboard, and wood-pulp board.
Manufactures of paper and cardboard.
All periodical publications exceeding sixteen pages in length imported otherwise than in single copies through the post.
(a) Tobacco, unmanufactured and manufactured, including cigars and cigarettes.
Furniture woods, hardwoods, and veneers.
Stones.
Slates.
(b) Canned, bottled, dried, and preserved fruits, except currants.
[NOTE.—This does not apply to such fruits which are the produce of British possessions.]
(c) Motor-cars, chassis, motor-cycles, parts and accessories (other than tires) of motor-cars and motor-cycles.
Musical instruments, including gramophones, pianolas, and other similar instruments, and accessories and component parts and records therefor.
Spirits and strong waters of all kinds, except brandy and rum.
