HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
KAUAI ISLAND.—SOUTH-EAST COAST.—NAWILIWILI HARBOUR.—KUKII (KUKU) POINT.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.

On 1st August, 1916, a flashing white light, of 60 candle-power, every 2·5 seconds—thus, flash 0·5 second, eclipsed 2 seconds—was established on Kukii (Kuku) Point. The light is exhibited, 47 ft. above the water and 20 ft. above the ground, from a white pyramidal concrete tower, on the bearings—
Nurini Point, tangent .. .. 100° 30′
Kawai Point, tangent .. .. 175° 00′
End of wharf .. .. 311° 30′
The light is obscured from 175° to 278°.
Approx. position : Lat. 21° 57′ 26″ N., long. 159° 21′ 2″ W.

CEYLON.
WEST COAST.—COLOMBO.—ALTERATION IN TIME-SIGNAL.
Position.—At the Master Attendant’s Office, lat. 6° 56′ N., long. 79° 50½′ E.
Details.—The semaphore time-signal has been discontinued and replaced by a time-ball. The ball is hoisted halfway up at 5 minutes, close up at 2 minutes before the signal, and dropped at 1 h. 00 m. 00 s., 4 h. 00 m. 00 s., 21 h. 00 m. 00 s. standard time, corresponding to 19 h. 30 m. 00 s., 22 h. 30 m. 00 s., 15 h. 30 m. 00 s. Greenwich mean time. Should the signal fail, the ball will remain hoisted for 15 minutes, and a green flag will be shown from the Colombo signal-mast. On Sundays and public holidays the signal will only be made at 21 h. 00 m. 00 s. standard time.
Note.—The note on the charts with reference to time-signals is to be amended accordingly.

AUSTRALIA.
EAST COAST.—INNER BARRIER ROUTE.—BEACON REPLACED.
Position.—Dee (d) Reef, black square beacon on north-west end. Lat. 15° 30′ S., long. 145° 19½′ E.
Remarks.—The beacon, which was recently destroyed, has been replaced.
Publications affected.—“Australian Directory,” Vol. II, 1907, page 350; “Sailing Directions and other Information for the Ports and Harbours of Queensland.”

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—DEVONPORT SANDSPIT BEACON LIGHT.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 11th October, 1916.

THE Auckland Harbour Board has notified that the red flashing light off the Sandspit at Devonport will be removed for repairs on Monday, 16th October, and that a white fixed light will be displayed instead for that night.
Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 1896 and 1970.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for sale by public auction, for cash, at the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Sale-rooms, Rangiora, at 2 o’clock p.m., on Tuesday, 21st November, 1916, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and its amendments.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—RANGIORA COUNTY.—MAIRAKI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Reserve 1240, Block VII: Area, 5 acres 0 roods 6 perches; upset price, £30.
Mostly hillsides, fair soil, stony in places. Access by good road, about three miles from Cust Railway-station.

Reserve 629, Block VII: Area, 9 acres; upset price, £54.
All flat land, fair soil, mostly covered with gorse and broom. Access by good road, about a mile and a half from Cust Railway-station.

Reserve 1078, Block VIII: Area, 5 acres 1 rood 31 perches; upset price, £17 10s.
About half open flat land of fair quality, remainder steep faces covered with gorse and broom. Access by good road, about four miles and a half from Stoke Railway-station.

TERMS OF SALE.

One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1), within thirty days thereafter; otherwise the part of the purchase-money paid by way of deposit shall be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.

Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1908.
