Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Waikiwi River District.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 11th October, 1916.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, under section 4 of the River Boards Amendment Act, 1913, by the Waikiwi River Board, praying that the areas described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Waikiwi River District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice.

SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN WAIKIWI RIVER DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Southland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the southern side of West Plains Road opposite the south-eastern corner of Section 40, Block XIV, Invercargill Hundred; thence across the said road and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 40 and 37 to a point distant 1077 links from the north-eastern corner of Section 37 aforesaid; thence along a right line to the north-western corner of Section 35, along the northern boundary of that section, across a road, and along the western boundary of Section 26 to its north-western corner; thence along a right line to the road at the easternmost corner of Section 28, along the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section 27 and the northern boundaries of Sections 10 and 9, Block XIV aforesaid, and forming the northern boundaries of Sections 38, 37, 36, and 35, Block IX, Invercargill Hundred, to the north-eastern corner of the said Section 35; and thence along the boundary of the Waikiwi River District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 14th August, 1913, page 2405, to the place of commencement.
Also all that area, being parts of Sections 13, 16, and 18, Block XV, Invercargill Hundred, bounded towards the north by Sections 119, 120, and 121, towards the east by Section 10, distance 1470 links; thence towards the south by a right line at right angles to the western boundary of the said Section 10 to Section 11, and thence towards the west by Sections 11 and 124 and a public road to Section 119, the place of commencement.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, under section 3 of the River Boards Amendment Act, 1913, by the Hawke’s Bay River Board, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Hawke’s Bay Rivers District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM HAWKE’S BAY RIVERS DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Borough of Napier bounded by a line along the original high-water mark from the south-eastern side of George’s Drive to the north-eastern side of Jull Street, along the north-eastern side of that street to Faulknor Street, along the north-western side of that street to Owen Street, across Owen Street to the drain reserve at the westernmost corner of Section 6, Napier South; along the said drain reserve to and across Kennedy’s Road, again along drain reserve to and across Latham Street, again along drain reserve to and across Todd Street, again along drain reserve to and across Kinross White Street, and again along drain reserve to Ellison Street; thence along the southern boundary of Section 226 to and across George’s Drive and along the south-western side of George’s Drive to the place of commencement.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the City of Dunedin, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 9.30 p.m., and Saturday at 9 p.m.; except (1) on the three working-days immediately preceding Christmas Eve, when the closing-hours shall be 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9.30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 p.m. on Saturday, subject to the closing at not later than 1 o’clock p.m. for the statutory half-holiday; (2) on Christmas and New Year’s Eves, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; and (3) during Winter Show Week, when the closing-hours shall be 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9.30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 p.m. on Saturday, subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday:
And whereas the Dunedin City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of chemists’ shops in the City of Dunedin:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 16th day of October, 1916, all chemists’ shops in the City of Dunedin shall be closed in accordance with such requisition, subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday in each week; provided, however, that on the statutory half-holiday chemists’ shops may reopen from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances.
The notice gazetted on the 30th March, 1916, is hereby cancelled.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Steward Settlement for Protective Works, Waitaki River.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of protective works, Waitaki River, Steward Settlement, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Georgetown, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
