RANGITAIKI LAND DRAINAGE DISTRICT.—DEMAND FOR RATES.

In accordance with the provisions of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and the Rating Act, 1908, I hereby demand from you, WITHIN FOURTEEN DAYS from date hereof, payment of the undermentioned amount, being rates due to the Crown by you as occupier [owner, or mortgagee] of the property scheduled hereunder. Payment is to be made to the Collector of Rates, Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, or at any money-order office.

Cheques must include exchange if drawn on a branch of the bank other than the town where payable. Exchange rates are 6d. for £20, and 3d. for every additional £10 or portion thereof.

CLASSIFICATION FOR RATING PURPOSES.

Class A indicates the land receiving direct benefit from the construction of the land-drainage works.
Class B indicates the land receiving less direct benefit therefrom.
Class C indicates the land receiving only an indirect benefit therefrom.

PENALTY FOR OVERDUE RATES.

Section 28, Rating Amendment Act, 1910.—“An additional charge of ten per centum may be added to all rates unpaid at the expiration of six months and fourteen days from the demand thereof, and shall be payable and recoverable accordingly; but such additional charge of ten per centum shall not be recoverable until a local authority has publicly notified that the same will be added.”

Opening Land in Wellington Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto, which has been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and section one hundred and thirty-five of the Land Act, 1908, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—KAITIEKE COUNTY.—
MANGANUI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Second-class Land.

SECTION 2, Block II: Area, 684 acres; capital value, £1,370; half-yearly rent, £27 8s.

This section is situated in the Kaitieke Block, the access being from Waimarino Railway-station, which is distant about twelve miles by a formed dray-road to the Retaruke Stream opposite the section. This stream is not bridged, but there is a good ford. The section comprises about 40 to 50 acres of flat or easy country near the road, partly natural clearing and partly covered with manuka and light scrub; the remainder is rough and broken, covered with mixed bush.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Land temporarily reserved as an Endowment for Primary Education in the Hawke’s Bay Land District.

[L.S.] LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, as an endowment for primary education.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 227 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Section 1, Block IV, Hangaroa Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Hangaroa-Matawai 2B and Okahuatiu No. 1 Blocks, 8961·4 and 746·3 links respectively; towards the east by Section 1, Block I, Patutahi Survey District, 5852·3 links; and towards the south by Sections 9, 8, and 2, Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey District, 7726·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 20/42, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
