Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the Staff and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor is respectfully advised to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Staff and Territorial Force:—

Staff.

Captain (temporary Major) Hubert Havard Wright, Army Service Corps, having proceeded on active service, relinquishes his appointment as Director of Supplies and Transport. Dated 23rd September, 1916.

Captain (temporary) Francis Edward Ostler, Army Service Corps, from Deputy Director of Supplies and Transport to be Director of Supplies and Transport, vice Captain (temporary Major) Hubert Havard Wright, Army Service Corps, who proceeds on active service. Dated 23rd September, 1916.

11th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

Lieutenant Olaf Percival Johnson (since killed in action) to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 8th August, 1916.

Corps of New Zealand Engineers.

2nd Lieutenant Thomas Oswald Lambie to be Lieutenant, New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps. Dated 19th September, 1916.

11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles).

Lieutenant Walter Bruce Johnstone, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant. Dated 15th August, 1914.

12th (Nelson) Regiment.

Maurice James O’Connor to be 2nd Lieutenant (temporary), vice Lieutenant Rogers, on active service. Dated 14th September, 1916.

14th (South Otago) Regiment.

Company Sergeant-major Walter Keith Dougall to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority next below 2nd Lieutenant L. G. Wilson. Dated 8th July, 1914.

15th (North Auckland) Regiment.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 22nd August, 1916:—
Trentham Charles Webster.
Frederick Rathbone Foster, under paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.
Percy Alexander McDowell, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.
James Edward Hedley Mewett, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

16th (Waikato) Regiment.

Captain Alfred Ernest McDonald to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 18th September, 1916.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 69, of the 22nd June, 1916, relative to the posting of Major George James Rastrick to the Retired List, is cancelled.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 19th September, 1916:—
Everard Maunsell Stace.
Robert Sharp Alford.
Keith Longbourne Vickerman.

New Zealand Army Service Corps.

2nd Lieutenant John Christopher Holland is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the establishment, with rank of Lieutenant. Dated 19th August, 1916.

New Zealand Forces Motor Service Corps.

2nd Lieutenant Albert Edward Alexander McDougall to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 683 (b), General Regulations, 1913. Dated 2nd August, 1916.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

Lieutenant-Colonel (Major) Ernest Edward Porritt, M.D., relinquishes his appointment as Principal Medical Officer in Samoa, and is absorbed, with the rank of Major. Dated 18th September, 1916.

Major George Lapraik, M.B., C.M., is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed. Dated 10th October, 1916.

Tom William James Childs, M.B., B.S., to be Captain. Dated 6th September, 1916.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 103, of 14th September, 1916, relative to the appointment of Stuart Scowlay, M.B., Ch.M., N.Z., for “Scowlay” read “Scoular.”

Unattached List (b).

Lieutenant Frank Leslie Hunt is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed. Dated 8th September, 1916.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64, of 1st June, 1916, relative to the promotion of 2nd Lieutenant Archibald Graham Valentine to the rank of Lieutenant, Unattached List (b), for the words “16th January, 1916,” read “16th January, 1915.”

2nd Lieutenant Clinton Henry Wynyard to be Lieutenant, Dated 31st March, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant Oliver Sidney Ellis is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and absorbed, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 3rd October, 1916.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants. Dated 15th September, 1916.
Sergeant Norman Russell Withiel Thomas.
Corporal Frederick James Cox.

The commission granted Lieutenant James Paul Kavanagh is cancelled under provisions of section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 23rd June, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Harold Vivian Ramsay resigns his appointment. Dated 16th May, 1916.

Lieutenant F. Gorton to be Captain. Dated 8th May, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant F. L. Hindley is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst seconded for duty as Assistant to the Officer Commanding New Zealand Record Section. Dated 19th May, 1916.

Otago Mounted Rifles.
