RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE IN RESPECT OF SPECIAL LOAN OF £12,000 AUTHORIZED BY SPECIAL ORDER MADE BY RESOLUTION PASSED ON THE 9TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1888, AND CONFIRMED ON THE 22ND DAY OF MARCH, 1888, PASSED AT A MEETING OF THE INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL HELD ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1916.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Invercargill Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £12,000, authorized to be raised by the Invercargill Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of repaying an overdraft incurred by the expenditure of £12,000 upon constructing and establishing certain public works deemed necessary for promoting the convenience and health of the inhabitants of that part of the borough hereinafter specified, the Invercargill Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of nine sixty-fourths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special-rating area being and comprising that part of the Borough of Invercargill which is the Town of Invercargill, and was the Borough of Invercargill at the date the said loan was authorized; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the said loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being the period ending on the 1st day of April, 1936, or until the said loan is fully paid off. The first instalment of such rate to be for the period commencing on the 1st day of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1917, and to be payable on the 16th day of October, 1916.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE IN RESPECT OF TOWN AREA SANITATION LOAN OF £28,000, PASSED AT A MEETING OF THE INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL HELD ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1916.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Invercargill Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £28,000, authorized to be raised by the Invercargill Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the acquiring of material for and the construction and laying of sanitary works, sewers, pipes, manholes, and vent shafts, including all plant, labour, and material, and extending the sewage system throughout that part of the borough hereinafter specified, the Invercargill Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special-rating area being and comprising that part of the Borough of Invercargill commencing at the south-west corner of the Township of Harrisville, and bounded on the north by the Township of Harrisville, thence northward on the west by Kelvin Road, on the north by the north boundary of Victoria Park, on the east by Elles Road, on the south by Dalrymple Road, on the west by the New River Estuary to Forth Street, thence again on the north by Forth Street to Deveron Street, thence again on the west by Deveron Street to Gala Street, thence again on the south by Gala Street and a line in continuation thereof, and thence again on the west by the New River Estuary to the commencing-point; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan, and shall be payable yearly on the first day of April in each year during the currency of the loan, or until the loan is fully paid off. The first instalment of the said rate to be for the period commencing on the 1st day of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1917, and to be payable on the 16th day of October, 1916.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE IN RESPECT OF GLADSTONE SPECIAL ORDER LOAN OF £1,000, PASSED AT A MEETING OF THE INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL HELD ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1916.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Invercargill Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorized to be raised by the Invercargill Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off a previously existing loan of the previously existing Borough of Gladstone, the said Invercargill Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of five thirty-seconds of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special-rating area being and comprising that part of the Borough of Invercargill which immediately before union with the then adjoining boroughs was the Borough of Gladstone—that is, the area to which the said loan applied; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the said loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of the said loan, or until the said loan is fully paid off. The first instalment of such rate to be for the period commencing on the 1st day of April, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1917, and to be payable on the 16th day of October, 1916.

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1908.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Middlemarch.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, John Roberts, of Dunedin, Merchant, William Murray, of London, Merchant, trading as Roberts and Co., Sheep-farmers, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 8th September, 1916, at 2 p.m.

Date and number of miner’s right: 2nd September, 1916; No. 68485.

Address for service: Gladbrook Station, Middlemarch.

Dated at Middlemarch this 15th day of September, 1916.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Lug Creek, Section 17, Block 2, Strath Taieri Survey District: terminates in Section 11, Block 5, Strath Taieri Survey District.

Length and intended course of race: 36 chains 60 links; east and southerly.

Points of intake: About 25 chains east of where said creek enters Section 17, Block 2, Strath Taieri Survey District.

Estimated time and cost of construction: One week; £14.

Mean depth and breadth: 12 in. by 5 in.

Number of heads to be diverted: One.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
