HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Permanent Staff and Territorial Force :—

Permanent Staff.

Staff Sergeant-major (W.O.) Ernest James Browning is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant during the period of the war. Dated 22nd August, 1916.

1st (Mounted) Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry).

Captain George Edward Rhodes retires under the provisions of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913, with effect from the 9th June, 1916.

Queen Alexandra’s 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Frank Kenneth Pearce is confirmed.

3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) William Shakespeare Dalton is confirmed.

New Zealand Field Artillery.

Lieutenant Matthew Henry Oram, from the Brigade Ammunition Column, to be Captain (J Battery). Dated 6th April, 1916.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.

Lieutenant Edward Wardell Pearce to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 3rd June, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant William Mervyn Dawn, from the Unattached List (b), to be 2nd Lieutenant (Auckland Garrison Artillery Division), supernumerary to establishment. Dated 19th August, 1916.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (Wellington Garrison Artillery Division). Dated 9th August, 1916 :—

15th (North Auckland) Regiment.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Trent-ham Charles Webster is confirmed.

17th (Ruahine) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant Raymond Lee is struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 9th August, 1916.
2nd Lieutenant (temporarily) Francis John Lound resigns his appointment. Dated 17th August, 1916.

New Zealand Army Service Corps.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 22nd August, 1916 :—

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Frederick Charles Gentry is granted the rank of Lieutenant (temporarily) while employed as Supply Officer in charge of the Supply Depot, Wellington, and with effect from 15th August, 1916.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Andrew Dishington McLaren is confirmed.

New Zealand Forces Motor Service Corps.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Albert Edward Alexander McDougall (Motor-car Section) is confirmed.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

Captain William Percy Gowland, F.R.C.S. Eng., is granted the temporary rank of Major while attached to the Otago University Officers’ Training Corps for special duty. Dated 24th August, 1916.
Captain Russell Ian Ritchie is granted the temporary rank of Major while attached to the Otago University Officers’ Training Corps for special duty. Dated 24th August, 1916.
Walter Reeve, M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond., to be Captain. Dated 21st August, 1916.
