Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

Wellington, 27th July, 1915.
THE following notices (three) received from the Council of the Borough of Wanganui, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 28th day of April, 1915, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £42,000 for the following purposes, and all matters incidental or relating thereto, that is to say :—
For providing water-meters, and for providing and laying water-mains, and extending the waterworks or water service in the said borough, and for constructing a tunnel and enlarging the waterworks at Okehu :
For the construction of works necessary for protecting Rangitikei Quay and the bank of the river on such street from erosion of or damage from the Wanganui River :
For the construction or deviation of certain streets within the said borough, and for the erection of overhead traffic bridges on the Great North-western Road and on Glasgow Street extension within the said borough :
For providing drainage in extension of the existing drainage in the said borough :
For the construction of works necessary for protecting the River Bank Road at Aramoho and the bank of the river on such road from erosion of and damage from the Wanganui River,—
the following votes were recorded : For the proposal, 862 ; against the proposal, 938 ; informal, 87.
I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 28th day of April, 1915, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £25,000 for the following purposes, and for all matters incidental or relating thereto, that is to say :—
For the construction and completing of streets within the Borough of Wanganui :
For the construction of a main drain or sewer, and the improving of Churton’s Creek :
For regrading and constructing of the street known as Taylor Street :
For providing and constructing public conveniences in the said borough :
For providing funds for making advances to owners of premises pursuant to subsection (7) of section 27 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1910 :
For laying out Laird Park as a recreation-ground :
For improving Hipango Park :
For the purchase of land at Wanganui East as a recreation-ground :
For providing and erecting lamp-posts and lanterns in the streets of the said borough,—
the following votes were recorded : For the proposal, 842 ; against the proposal, 954 ; informal, 114.
I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 28th day of April, 1915, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £24,000 for the purpose of providing, erecting, supplying, and completing of engines, plant, machinery, and all things necessary or convenient for providing further electrical power for the tramways in the Borough of Wanganui ; and for the supply of electric power and light to private consumers ; and for the enlargement and extension of the tramway buildings in the said borough ; and for providing or supplying of water for the purposes of the said tramways by means of artesian wells, the following votes were recorded : For the proposal, 1,008 ; against the proposal, 800 ; informal, 100.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Permit to import Opium.

IT is hereby notified for public information that a permit to import opium in forms which, though not suitable for smoking, may be made suitable has been granted to the undermentioned person, subject to the provisions of the Opium Act, 1908, the Opium Amendment Act, 1910, and the regulations made thereunder :—

Election of Governor, Auckland Grammar School.
Auckland, 13th July, 1915.
IN accordance with the Auckland Grammar School Act, 1899, and with the regulations thereunder for the election of Governors by the Education Board of the District of Auckland, I hereby notify that at a meeting of the said Board held this day GEORGE JOSEPH GARLAND was duly re-elected a Governor of the Board of Governors constituted by the said Act.
