Regulation No. 181, as amended on the 1st April, 1914, is hereby further amended by deleting the words “Special consideration will in all cases be given to handwriting and to the formation of figures,” and inserting in lieu thereof the words “The legibility of handwriting and the setting-out of matter will in all cases be taken into account when assigning marks to papers in the various subjects.”
The regulation is hereby still further amended by inserting, after the syllabus of examination in the subject (1) English in Group I, the words “(1A.) Dictation and Handwriting.—The writing from dictation of a passage from some newspaper or standard author, special consideration being given to punctuation and penmanship. The copying from print or manuscript of prose, poetry, business letters, tabulated matter, and commercial papers. In the assessment of marks for handwriting consideration will be given chiefly to legibility, regularity, neatness, and speed. Handwriting will be taken into account in all subjects tested by written examination.”
Regulation No. 200H is hereby amended by adding the following proviso to the first paragraph thereof:—
“Provided that a candidate who has gained partial success towards the examination shall be deemed to have passed the examination if at an examination not later than July, 1916, he has passed in such of the subjects enumerated in Regulation No. 200F hereof, and in accordance with the provisions hereinafter contained, as would, under the regulations for the Senior Examination previously in force, have satisfied the requirements for officers of his Department.”
Also by the following addition and alterations to the schedule of Departmental requirements:—
Add:—
Land for Settlements Department.—
Compulsory subjects: 10, 16, 53. and 54.
Lands and Survey Department: Field Cadets,—
Subjects recommended: Insert 5 or 6 or 9, 14, 17, 23, 24, 52.
Compulsory subjects: Delete the present requirements, and substitute 10, 11, 16, and two of the subjects recommended.
Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce,—
Subjects recommended: Add 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, and 53.
