RESTRICTION OF NAVIGATION.—CAUTION.—(a.) No vessels
or boats of any description are to move in the area north of
a line joining Portland Bill with St. Albans Head, by day
or night, unless proceeding into Weymouth anchorage.
(b.) No vessels or boats of any description are to move in the
area north of a line joining Portland Bill with Hopes Nose
between sunset and sunrise. No vessels or boats of any de-
scription are to put to sea in this prohibited area during fog,
and any caught at sea by fog are to return to shore or harbour
at once. Vessels or boats found in this area after dark are
liable to be fired upon. -
CAUTION re TARGET PRACTICE.—CAUTION.—Target prac-
tice will take place, without further notice, from ships lying
in Portland Harbour, and it will therefore be dangerous
henceforth for vessels to enter the following area :—
Limits of Dangerous Area.—(a.) On the North: By a line
drawn in a 97° (S. 67° E. mag.) direction from the north end
of the outer breakwater until St. Albans Head bears 18°
(N. 34° E. mag.). (b.) On the South: By a line drawn in a
119° (S. 45° E. mag.) direction from the south end of the outer
breakwater, until St. Albans Head bears 18° (N. 34° E. mag.).
(c.) On the East: By a line joining the eastern extremities
of limits (a) and (b). (d.) On the West: By Portland outer
breakwater.
Variation.—16° W.
BRAZIL, EAST COAST.—PORT OF CAMAMU.
Kiepe Island.—Alteration in Period of Light.
Position: Lat. 13° 51′ S., long. 38° 57¼′ W. New abridged
description: Lt. fl. ev. 3 secs., 61 ft., vis. 12 m. Details: The period of the flashing white light has been altered from
ten to three seconds—thus, flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 secs.
Remarks: The light has a visibility of 12 miles; the remain-
ing details are unaltered. Charts affected: No. 549, Port of
Camamu; No. 529, Pernambuco to Victoria, with inset; No. 2262, Rio Tariri to Contas, &c. Publications: List of

BRAZIL, EAST COAST.—ABROLHOS CHANNEL.
Abrolhos Rocks.—Rocks Southward of.
Position: Abrolhos Rocks Lighthouse on Santa Barbara
Islet. Lat. 17° 57½′ S., long. 38° 42′ W. Distance and bearing
from Abrolhos Rocks Lighthouse :—
(a.) 3 miles and 6 cables, 189° (S. 23° W. mag.); depth,
5½ fathoms (coral).
(b.) 6 miles, 202° (S. 36° W. mag.); depth, 10 fathoms (coral).
(c.) 7 miles and 8½ cables, 184° (S. 18° W. mag.); depth,
3 fathoms (rock).
Variation: 14° W. Charts affected: No. 3157, Itacolmis

UNITED STATES, ATLANTIC COAST.—NEW YORK.
East River, Western Entrance.—Obstruction marked by Buoy.
(a.) OBSTRUCTION.—Position: At a distance of 8·3 cables,
56° (N. 66° E. mag.), from Governors Island Lighthouse.
Lat. 40° 42′ N., long. 74° 0¼′ W. Description: A sunken
obstruction over which there is a least depth of 22 ft.
Note: The above depth is to be inserted on the charts and
marked “Obstruction (1915).”
(b.) BUOY.—Position: On the south side of the obstruction. Description: A spar buoy painted in black and red
horizontal bands.

APPROACH.
Five Fathom Bank Light-vessel.—Obstruction reported
Southward of.
Position: At a distance of about 5 miles, southward, from
Five Fathom Bank Light-vessel. Lat. 38° 42′ 20″ N., long.
74° 32′ 30″ W., on Chart No. 266. Details: The s.s.
“Comet” is reported to have touched a submerged obstruction in the position given above. Note: The position on the
charts is to be surrounded by a danger-line, and marked
“Obstruction (1915).” Charts affected: No. 266, Great Egg

PORTUGAL, WEST COAST.
Cape Sardao.—Light established.
Position: On the cape known as Cape Sardao. Lat.
37° 35¾′ N., long. 8° 49′ W., on Chart No. 87. Abridged
description: Lt. gp. fl. (3), ev. 10 secs., 230 ft., vis. 21 m.
Details: Character—a group flashing white light showing
three flashes every ten seconds; elevation—230 ft.; visibility—21 miles; structure—white square masonry tower,
29 ft. in height.
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
HAWAII.—LAUPAHOEHOE POINT LIGHT.—CHARACTERISTIC
CHANGED.—NEW STRUCTURE.—On 1st March, 1915, the
characteristic of Laupahoehoe Point light was changed to
flashing white, of 170 candle-power, every 10 seconds—thus,
flash 1 second, eclipsed 9 seconds. The light is exhibited
46 ft. above the water and 30 ft. above the ground, from a
white pyramidal concrete tower erected 6 yards 83° 30′ from
the former site.
The old light-mast and service house were removed on the
same date.
Approx. position: Lat. 19° 59′ 40″ N., long. 155° 14′ 39″ W.
MAUI ISLAND.—SOUTH-WEST COAST.—MCGREGOR POINT
LIGHT.—CHARACTERISTIC CHANGED.—NEW STRUCTURE.—On
1st March, 1915, the characteristic of McGregor Point light
was changed from fixed red to flashing white of 170 candle-
power every 1½ seconds—thus, flash ½ second, eclipsed 1 second.
The light is exhibited 72 ft. above high water and 20 ft.
above the ground, from a white pyramidal concrete tower
bearing 276° from the old structure, which has been removed.
Approx. position: Lat. 20° 46′ 50″ N., long 156° 31′ 30″ W.
OAHU ISLAND.—DIAMOND HEAD LIGHT.—CHARACTERISTIC
CHANGED.—On 1st March, 1915, the characteristic of the light
on Diamond Head was changed to occulting every 10 seconds—
thus, light 2 seconds, eclipsed 1·5 seconds; light 5 seconds,
eclipsed 1·5 seconds.
Approx. position: Lat. 21° 15′ 32″ N., long. 157° 48′ 44″ W.
HAWAII.—WEST COAST.—KEAHOLE POINT LIGHT.—CHARACTERISTIC CHANGED.—NEW STRUCTURE.—On 15th March,
1915, the characteristic of Keahole Point light was changed
from fixed white to group flashing white, of 170 candle-power,
showing 1 group of 2 flashes every 6 seconds.
The new light is exhibited 43 ft. above the water and
30 ft. above the ground, from a white pyramidal concrete
tower located 3 yards 36° from the old structure, which was
removed.
Approx. position: Lat. 19° 44′ 15″ N., long. 156° 3′ 39″ W.
KAWAIHAE LIGHT. — CHARACTERISTIC CHANGED. — NEW
STRUCTURE.—On 15th March, 1915, the characteristic of
Kawaihae light was changed from fixed red to flashing white,
of 170 candle-power, every 5 seconds—thus, flash 1 second,
eclipsed 4 seconds.
The new light is exhibited 59 ft. above the water and 34 ft.
above the ground from a white pyramidal concrete tower.
Approx. position: Lat. 20° 2′ 39″ N., long. 155° 50′ 6″ W.
MAHUKONA LIGHT. — CHARACTERISTIC CHANGED. — NEW
STRUCTURE.—On 15th March, 1915, the characteristic of
Mahukona light was changed from fixed white to flashing
white, of 170 candle-power, every 1½ seconds—thus, flash
½ second, eclipsed 1 second.
The new light is exhibited 64 ft. above high water and 20 ft.
above the ground, from a white pyramidal concrete tower
located 45 yards 180° from the old structure, which was removed.
Approx. position: Lat. 20° 11′ N., long. 155° 54′ 14″ W.
BRITISH COLUMBIA.
STRAIT OF GEORGIA.—FRASER RIVER.—RANGE-LIGHTS
ESTABLISHED.—The Canadian Government has given notice
that four pairs of range-lights have been established to mark
the channel at the mouth of the Fraser River from the Sand-
heads Light-vessel to Westham Island, as follows :—
Fraser Mouth Outer Range.
Front Light.—An unwatched fixed red light, exhibited 26 ft.
above high water, and visible 7 miles from all points of
approach by water, southward of the turn in the channel at
Red Conical Buoy No. 4.
Note.—This light was formerly designated the Fraser
River Mouth South Curve light, and now becomes the front
light of Fraser Mouth Outer Range.
Approx. position: Lat. 49° 6′ 30″ N., long. 123° 16′ 50″ W.
Rear Light.—An unwatched fixed white light, visible 11 miles
in the line of range, exhibited 34 ft. above high water from a
small steel skeleton tower, square in plan, with sloping sides,
standing on a platform supported on piles, 300 ft. 106° from
the front light.
