Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

AUKOPAE SCENIC RESERVES.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 23 acres, more or less, being Section 12, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by part Section 4, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District, 1988 links; towards the east by other part of Section 4 aforesaid, 1357·8 links; towards the south by Wanganui River Road, 1309 links; and towards the west generally by Section 18, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District, 800 links and 610·7 links, and by part Section 4 aforesaid, 1017·9 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 735/16A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 34 acres, more or less, being Section 13, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by a road, 293·8 links, by Section 14, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District, 2038·3 links, and by the Aorangi Road, 1406·3 links, to the Wanganui River Road; towards the east generally by the Wanganui River Road, 2,400 links; towards the south-west generally by Section 17, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District, 2850·5 links; and towards the west by Section 17 aforesaid, 1668·1 links, and by Section 11, Block XV, Ohura Survey District, 249·9 links, to the place of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 735/16B deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 106 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Section 1, Block IV, Heao Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east and north generally by the Wanganui River Road, 6,800 links; towards the east by Section 4, Block IV, Heao Survey District, 1127·5 links; towards the south generally by Section 4 aforesaid and by Section 3, Block IV, Heao Survey District, 7851·9 links; and towards the north-west by Section 3 aforesaid, 2188·2 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 735/16C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this sixteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

ERRATUM.—In the fifth line of the Schedule to the Order in Council dated 23rd November, 1914, published in Gazette No. 128, page 4152, of 26th day of the same month, exempting the eastern side of Barbour Street in the City of Christchurch from the provisions of section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908, for “29½ chains” read “30 chains 10 links.”
