this pile beacon. The temporary lighted buoy showing a white occulting light, visible all round the horizon, that marked approximately the position of the southern pile beacon will be removed after the above-mentioned date—viz., the 15th day of July, 1915.
Removal of Falcon Shoal Buoy.
On and after the 15th day of July, 1915, the buoy which carries a fixed red light, and which marks the eastern edge of the Falcon Shoal, opposite Karaka Bay, will be removed.
Removal of Hope Shoal and Hope Shoal Extension Buoys.
The red conical buoy which marks the western edge of the Hope Shoal off Ward Island, and the similar buoy 9 cables due south of it, will be removed on and after the 15th day of July, 1915.

Notice to Mariners No. 53 of 1915.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—DREDGING OFF QUEEN’S WHARF.

Wellington, N.Z., 23rd June, 1915.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the dredger “Hapai” is now working on the western side of the Queen’s Wharf, commencing at the N.W. corner and working to the southward, and has six moorings laid out in N., S., E., and W. directions.
Vessels are warned to pay special attention to dredger’s signals, and to pass on the side showing the Red Ball by day and the Red Light by night.

Notice to Mariners No. 54 of 1915.
NAPIER HARBOUR.—TIDAL SIGNALS.

Wellington, N.Z., 23rd June, 1915.
THE Napier Harbour Board have notified that on and after 5th July, 1915, the following tidal-signal lights will be exhibited from a staff on top of “D” shed at the corner of West Quay, Inner Harbour:—
One green light . . . . . Ebb tide.
Two green lights vertical . . . . . Flood tide.
One white over two green lights . . . . . Slack water.
One white over one green light . . . . . Channel blocked.
The blue-light signal formerly used to denote “slack water” will be discontinued when the new lights come into operation.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 7th July, 1915, for the position of Bridge Overseer, Public Works Department, Blenheim District.
- Applications (to be made on form P.S.C. 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.
The duties of the position comprise the supervision of the erection of timber and concrete bridges.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £220 per annum,

Applicants must have had experience in the handling of large numbers of men on the construction of railway-lines, including earthworks, culverts (timber and concrete), tunnels, platelaying, and ballasting.

Preference will be given to those applicants who have had experience in the use of modern machines in the construction of earthworks.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £190 to commence.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in the Town of Tokomaru, Wellington Land District.
LIVERPOOL, Governor
WHEREAS by the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and in the case of any reserve made under the authority of section three hundred and twenty-one of the Land Act, 1908, if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose for which such reserve was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more of the purposes named in the said Class II, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, aforesaid, declare my intention to change the purpose of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto from a site for a post and telegraph office to a site for a police-station.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Section No. 2, Town of Tokomaru. Bounded towards the north-west by Matipo Street, 500 links; towards the north-east by Tawa Street, 175 links; towards the south-east by Section No. 4, 500 links; and towards the south-west by Section No. 68, 175 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.
