published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, it was ordered and directed that as on and from the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, burials within the Dannevirke Cemetery in the Borough of Dannevirke shall be wholly discontinued: And whereas it is expedient to vary the said Order in Council to the extent hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in him by the Cemeteries Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and direct that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the said Order in Council, Mr. George Wright, of Dannevirke (whose former wife was buried in Lot 34, Block H, of the said cemetery prior to the closing thereof, and who is thus entitled on his decease to be buried in the said Lot 34), and his wife (whose former husband, Henry E. Shannon, was buried in Lot 31, Block F, of the said cemetery prior to the closing thereof, and who is thus entitled on her decease to be buried in the said Lot 31) may, on their decease, in lieu of being buried in the said Lots 34 and 31 respectively, be buried in Lots 63 and 64, Block H, of the said cemetery.

Portion of the Eastern and Western Sides of Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, in the City of Wellington, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908, subject to a Condition as to the Building-line.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of June, 1915.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor in Council:

And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, and clause (b) of subsection one of section thirteen of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions as the Governor in Council thinks fit to impose, and may refer to one or both sides of the road or street:

And whereas the Wellington City Council, the local authority having control of the portion of street described in the Schedule hereto, hereinafter referred to as the said portion of street, did, by resolution, declare that the provisions of the said section one hundred and seventeen should not apply to the said portion of street:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved, in so far as it refers to the eastern and western sides of the said portion of street, subject to the condition hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution to the extent hereinbefore mentioned, subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall be erected at any time on the eastern or western sides of the said portion of street within a distance of thirty-three feet of the centre-line of the said portion of street.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, in the City of Wellington, adjoining Sections 184, 185, and 186 on the eastern side, and Sections 153 and 154 on the western side; as the said portion of street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 37880, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Regulations under the Public Revenues Act, 1910, relating to Stores.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of June, 1915.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by section three of the Public Revenues Act, 1910, it is provided that the Governor may from time to time by Order in Council make regulations for the purchase, safe custody, and issue of public stores, and rendering accounts in respect of such stores, and for the audit of such accounts:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations; and doth declare that the regulations hereby made shall come into force on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.


REGULATIONS.

  1. For the purpose of these regulations “stores” shall mean articles of a consumable or a non-consumable nature required in carrying out the services of the respective Departments of the Public Service, and may also include unserviceable articles, whether new or old, which may or may not possess a value to a Department. “Stores” also includes books, forms, stationery, and office requisites of every description.

  2. It shall be the duty of all officers in charge of stores to afford all such information and assistance as the Controller and Auditor-General, or any Inspector or other officer appointed by him, may at any time require as to any stores which may have been or may be in his charge, or as to any account or other matter in anywise connected with the management of stores or the inspection thereof.

  3. The Controller and Auditor-General shall—

(1.) Examine all documents relating to the purchase of all stores, whether by contract or agreement, or when obtained by any other means, to ensure that all the conditions prescribed relating to the purchase of such stores have been complied with.

(2.) Examine all orders or authorities issued for the purchase of stores, to ensure that all such orders or authorities are issued by an officer duly appointed for the purpose.

(3.) Examine all invoices, accounts, or other documents supplied by contractors or other persons relating to the delivery of any such stores, to ensure that correct delivery has been made in accordance with the contract or agreement relating thereto.

(4.) Examine all books and records to ensure that complete record is kept, in such form as may be prescribed by the Controller and Auditor-General, of all transactions affecting the receipt and delivery of all stores.

(5.) Examine all documents relating to the issue of any stores to ensure that no stores have been issued except under the authority of an officer duly appointed for this purpose, and that proper receipts are obtained for such stores at the time of issue.

(6.) Examine all books and records to ensure that a record is kept, in such form as may be prescribed by the Controller and Auditor-General, of all stores which may be issued from time to time.

(7.) Examine at least once in each year, or at such other period as may be prescribed by Order in Council, whether the proper quantities of all such stores are remaining in stock in a proper store or building, and report to the Minister of Finance within four weeks the result of such inspection or examination, referring particularly in such report to the following matters:—

(a.) Any deficiencies or excesses in stock in comparison with the books, and the reason alleged for such deficiencies or excesses.

(b.) Stores written off during the year from any cause.

(c.) Unserviceable or obsolete stores remaining on hand which might be disposed of or written off.

(d.) Any excess of stores on hand beyond the reasonable requirements of the Department.

(e.) Whether the stocks of stores are kept in such a manner as to afford security from loss, damage, or deterioration from any cause.

(f.) Reference to any irregularities.
