The excess of the arrivals in New Zealand over the departures therefrom during the month of February, 1915, was therefore 256 persons, as against 307 in the corresponding month of 1914.

† It is important to mention that, in the returns from which this table is made up, immigrants to the Dominion are all counted at the first port of arrival, and emigrants at the final port of departure.

Notice to Mariners No. 19 of 1915.
NAPIER HARBOUR.—BERTHING-SIGNALS AT BREAKWATER HARBOUR.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 12th March, 1915.
THE Napier Harbour Board have notified that on and after 1st April, 1915, a new system of signals for berthing at the wharves in the Breakwater Harbour will be inaugurated in lieu of the signals now in use. The signals are to be as follows:—
Signals by Day.
Square Flag.—Vessel to berth west side of Glasgow Wharf.
Pennant.—Vessel to berth east side of Glasgow Wharf.
Square Flag over Pennant.—Vessel to berth at Breakwater Wharf.
Two Pennants.—Stand to sea.
Two Square Flags.—Wait; or Keep handy.
Square Flag under Pennant.—Anchor under lee of Breakwater.
Signals by Night.
Communication will be made from Morse signal-staff at Glasgow Wharf.

Notice to Mariners No. 20 of 1915.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—WESTERN TIDE-DEFLECTOR.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 12th March, 1915.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the western breakwater or tide-deflector north of Freeman’s Bay reclamation is now completed, and the following distinguishing lights will be exhibited, viz.: Orange, green, green, in a vertical line five feet apart, with the lowest light ten feet above high-water mark.
