Resignation of Minister of Customs, Marine, and Member of the Executive Council.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation by The Honourable FRANCIS MARION BATES FISHER of his offices of Minister of Customs, Minister of Marine, and also of his office as a member of the Executive Council of the Dominion of New Zealand; such resignations to date from the 7th January, 1915.

Regulations respecting Letting, &c., of Provincial Hall, Nelson.

THE following regulations shall apply to the letting and use of the Provincial Hall, Nelson :-

  1. The Hall shall mean and include the room known as the Provincial Hall in the Government Buildings used as the Supreme Court Room, together with the galleries thereof and the passages leading thereto; but shall not include the Judge's Bench or the furniture and fittings thereof. And no grant of the use of the Hall shall include the right to use such bench, furniture, or other permanent fixture used in connection with the Supreme Court.

  2. Every application for the use of the Hall shall be made in duplicate, in writing, addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, setting out the purpose and date for which the same is required.

  3. Every application as aforesaid shall be lodged with the Town Clerk.

  4. The Town Clerk shall submit the same to the Registrar of the Supreme Court, in order to ascertain whether the dates are suitable.

  5. If the dates are suitable the Town Clerk shall submit the application to the Mayor of the City of Nelson, who shall forward one copy thereof to the Minister of Internal Affairs, or to such person as the Minister may appoint to represent him, together with his recommendation thereon.

  6. The purposes for which the Hall may be granted shall be for the advancement or discussion of matters or questions of general and local public interest, and shall include :-

(a.) Political meetings.

(b.) Meetings of householders for School Committee election and other purposes.

(c.) Meetings of ratepayers, under municipal, county, or Harbour Board franchise, in respect of questions affecting loans, polls, or other matters of local interest.

(d.) Addresses of a scientific, educational, religious, or other public nature.

(e.) Such other purposes of a public nature as the Minister of Internal Affairs thinks fit.

  1. The Hall shall not be let for any ball, dance, or social function ; provided that the Minister may under exceptional circumstances (of which he shall be the sole Judge) let the Hall for a banquet or other social function of a public nature.

  2. The Hall shall not be let or used for any purpose after midnight, except in respect of the proviso under the foregoing clause hereof.

  3. The Minister of Internal Affairs, or the person for the time being appointed to act for him, shall determine every application for the use of the Hall, and his decision shall be final.

  4. The fees to be paid for the use of the Hall to cover the expenses of caretaker, lighting, and cleaning shall not be less than--one day or part of a day, up to midnight, Β£1 ; for every additional day or part of a day, as aforesaid, 10s. All fees and charges shall be paid in advance to the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  5. The person or persons (including bodies corporate or incorporate) to whom the Hall is let shall be responsible for all damages, breakages, or injuries to the Hall or to the appurtenances thereof, and this condition shall be deemed to be a term of every letting of the Hall.

  6. The Minister of Internal Affairs may impose on the letting of the Hall such other or additional terms or conditions, not inconsistent with the foregoing, as he may from time to time or in any particular circumstance think necessary, including in any exceptional case the charging of additional fees to cover extraordinary expenses.

  7. The Stipendiary Magistrate for the time being exercising jurisdiction in Nelson shall, until further notice, act for and on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs in respect to these regulations, and shall exercise all the functions of the Minister in regard to the letting of the Hall.

  8. The Magistrate shall notify the Commissioner of Crown Lands for Nelson of every letting of the Hall, who shall notify the caretaker to be in attendance to see that all lights are extinguished and the buildings properly locked up after every function.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Ewings Road, in the Town of Whangarei Extension No. 2, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Ewings Road, in the Town of Whangarei Extension No. 2, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Ypres Street, in the Town of Greenmeadows Extension No. 4, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Ypres Street, in the Town of Greenmeadows Extension No. 4, Hawke's Bay Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Park Avenue, in the Town of Papatoetoe Extension No. 13, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.
