  1. The right to cut and remove the timber on each lot will be sold generally in accordance with the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, the Timber Regulations made thereunder, and the following conditions:—

  2. The quantities of the various timbers set forth in the above Schedule are approximate only, and are furnished for the general information of intending purchasers, who are expected, previous to the sale, to make their own estimate of the quantity of the timber on each lot.

  3. The successful bidder shall purchase the whole of the timber in a lot, and shall, on the fall of the hammer, pay in cash the sum bid for the privilege of cutting, together with a license fee of £1 1s.

  4. The purchaser of each lot shall have the right to cut all timber thereon during a period of three years from the date of sale, and it shall be a condition that his mill shall be in working-order within one year from date of sale.

  5. The license shall be only for the cutting and removal of the timber, and shall give no right to the use of the land.

  6. Royalties at the rates quoted in the above Schedule shall be paid quarterly on the output of the mill as disclosed by the mill-books. All books used in connection with the mill and working of the bush shall be subject to inspection and verification at all times by the Crown Lands Ranger, or by any other officer appointed by the Land Board.

  7. The licensee shall enter in a delivery-book, to be supplied by the Department, each class, sort, and quantity of timber despatched either from the mill or from the yard. Each page of said delivery-book shall be numbered consecutively, and shall consist of not less than three dockets bearing the same number, one of which shall be posted every fortnight to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Wellington. All timber, including face-cuts, sold for cash or exchanged for other commodities shall be entered in the same delivery-book.

Separate accounts shall be kept of the timber used in the erection and construction of said buildings and tramways, &c.; and in the event of the licensee disposing of any totara or matai used in any of the above works, or should he sell or otherwise dispose of any of the buildings during or at the end of his license, he shall at once pay the stated royalty on the timber contained therein.

  9. The licensee shall keep accounts of all sleepers, posts, battens, house-blocks, shingles, &c., split from logs or butt ends, also of each class and quantity of timber remaining in mill-yard at the expiration or sooner determination of his license, upon all of which the stated royalties shall be paid.

  10. The timber in each lot shall be cut in a face, and the Land Board shall have the power to demand a more systematic and better cleaning-up of the bush, if deemed necessary.

  11. The Land Board may authorize the laying-down and working of tram-lines through these lots by other persons than the licensee of the particular lot affected.

  12. The licensee shall not put, throw, or place, or allow to be put, thrown, or placed, into any river, stream, or watercourse, or into any place where it may be washed into any river, stream, or watercourse, any sawdust or other sawmill refuse.

  13. If the timber on any lot is unsold at auction, the right to cut it at the upset bonus and royalties quoted in Schedule above will remain open for application until further notice.

  14. Each lot will be sold generally in accordance with the area and boundaries as shown on the sale map at the Crown Lands Office, Wellington.
