settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be
open for selection on renewable lease on Saturday, the
twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and
fifteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and
I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and
subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
HILLBORO SETTLEMENT.—WAIMATE COUNTY.—OTAIО SURVEY
DISTRICT.
First-class Land.
SECTION 1, Block XV: Area, 195 acres and 18 perches.
Rent per acre per annum (approximate), 14s. 9d. Half-yearly
rent, £72 4s. 6d.
Section 2, Block XV: Area, 186 acres 2 roods 31 perches.
Rent per acre per annum (approximate), 14s. Half-yearly
rent, £65 5s.
Section 3,* Block XV: Area, 309 acres 2 roods. Rent per
acre per annum (approximate), 13s. 2d. Half-yearly rent,
£101 14s.
- Weighted with interest and sinking fund on house, wool-
shed and yards, men’s hut, stable, cow-bail, fowl-house, &c.,
valued at £665; payable in cash, or in twenty-one years by
forty-two half-yearly instalments of £25 18s. 9d.
DESCRIPTIONS OF SECTIONS.
Section 1.—All undulating ploughable land. Good soil,
on clay subsoil. Altitude, 350 ft. to 420 ft. Watered by
stream, which dries up in summer; but water can be conserved
by dams. Four miles and a half from Otaio Railway-station
by good road.
Section 2.—All undulating ploughable land. Good soil,
on clay subsoil. Altitude, 330 ft. to 380 ft. Watered by
stream, which dries up in summer; but water can be con-
served by dams. Four miles from Otaio Railway-station by
good road.
Section 3.—The homestead block. All undulating plough-
able land. Good soil, on clay subsoil. Altitude, 150 ft. to
330 ft. Watered by stream, which dries up in summer; but
water can be conserved by dams. Three miles from Otaio
Railway-station by good road.
IMPROVEMENTS.
The improvements that go with the land are: Section 1,
245 chains of fencing valued at £66 15s. 6d.; Section 2,
237 chains of fencing valued at £87 2s. 6d.; Section 3,
401 chains of fencing valued at £148 1s. 6d.

this second day of February, one thousand nine
hundred and fifteen.

Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the New Zealand
Military Forces.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the regulations set forth
in the Schedule hereto; and do hereby declare that such regulations
shall come into force on the thirtieth day of January, one thousand
nine hundred and fifteen.
SCHEDULE.
FINANCIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ALLOWANCE REGULATIONS FOR THE
NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.
Section XV.—New Zealand Forces Motor Reserve of Officers.

EXCEPT in the case of mobilization of the Forces, officers should
only be called on generally within a forty-mile radius of the place
of assembly for manœuvres, &c. -
When called out for duty, officers shall receive the following
daily rates of pay:—
s. d.
Lieut.-Colonel .. .. .. 15 0 per day.
Majors .. .. .. 12 0 ,,
Captains .. .. .. 10 0 ,,
Lieutenants .. .. .. 8 0 ,,
Half the above rates only will be paid for a half-day’s tour of duty.
- In addition to pay of rank, each officer shall receive a running
allowance according to the class of car used by him. The running
allowance shall be—
(a.) Class “A” car, 20 h.p. or upwards, seating
four, including driver .. .. .. 4d. per mile.
(b.) Class “B” car, under 20 h.p., seating four,
including driver .. .. .. 3d. ,,
(c.) Class “C” car, not less than 10 h.p., seating
one or two in addition to driver .. .. 2d. ,,
