THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Hydrographic Office, London; the Hydrographic Office, Washington; the Marine Department, Brisbane; the Harbours Board Offices, Adelaide; and the Marine Board Office, Hobart, are published for general information.

AUSTRALIA.—QUEENSLAND, INNER BARRIER REEF.
Lark Pass, Pullen Reefs.—Buoy established.
Position.—At a distance of one cable, 356° (N. 10° W. mag.), from the north-western extremity of Pullen Reefs. Lat. 15° 15′ S., long. 145° 34′ 55″ E.
Description.—A black cask buoy surmounted by a flag.
Variation.—6° E.
Chart affected.—No. 2923, Hope Islands to Turtle Group.

ENGLAND, SOUTH-EAST COAST.—DOVER STRAIT.
Folkestone.—Caution with regard to Wreck Southward of.
Position of Wreck.—At a distance of 2 miles and 6½ cables, 154° (S. 12° E. mag.), from the light on the outer end of Folkestone Pier, as given in the former notice. Lat. 51° 2¼′ N., long. 1° 13½′ E.
Caution.—Mariners are hereby warned that the area within half a mile of the wreck, sunk in the above position, is to be considered unsafe for navigation until further notice.
Variation.—14° W.
CHINA, EAST COAST.—WUSUNG RIVER
Shanghai Harbour.—Light-buoy established.
Position.—At a distance of about 2¾ cables, south-westward from the entrance to Tung-ku Creek, and 6·2 cables, 54° (N. 57° E. mag.), from the China Flour-mill Company’s chimney northward of Point Hotel. Lat. 31° 17′ N., long. 121° 34′ E.
Description.—A red can-shaped light-buoy exhibiting an occulting white light every eight seconds—thus, light 4 secs., eclipse 4 secs.
Remarks.—This light-buoy marks the western side of the channel, and is known as “Tung-ku.”
Variation.—3° W.
Chart affected.—No. 1601, Wusung River.

CHINA, EAST COAST.—YANG-TSE-KIANG APPROACH.
Rugged Islands.—Alteration in Character of Light.
Position.—On South-west Horn. Lat. 30° 35¾′ N., long. 121° 57¾′ E.
New Abridged Description.—(U) lt. fl., W.R., ev. 3 secs., 95 ft., vis. 15 and 8 m.
Alteration.—The occulting light with white and red sectors has been replaced by a flashing light, with white and red sectors, every three seconds—thus, flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 secs.
Remarks.—This light, which is unwatched, has been considerably increased in candle-power; the other details remain unaltered.
STRAIT OF MALACCA.—SOUTH KLANG STRAIT.
Tanjong Buas Buas.—Beacon Building on Shoal South-westward of.
Position.—On the 3-fathom shoal situated at a distance of 8½ cables, 254° (S. 73° W. mag.), from Tanjong Buas Buas. Lat. 2° 53′ N., long. 101° 15¼′ E.
Description.—A pile beacon.
Remarks.—The works in connection with the construction of the above beacon are marked by a light-vessel moored to the south-westward of the shoal. The vessel, which is painted red, is marked on both sides “P.P. Gedong Bar 3-Fms. Patch,” and has one mast from which a red flag is shown by day. By night a fixed white light, visible 8 miles, is exhibited from the after part of the vessel, in addition to a riding light.
Note.—“Bn. buildg. marked by fixed wh. lt. (1915)” is to be inserted on the charts.
Variation.—1° E.
URUGUAY.
PLATA RIVER.—COLONIA.—WRECK SOUTHWARD.—LIGHT-BUOY ESTABLISHED.—A wreck lies sunk southward of Colonia. A green light-buoy, showing a flashing green light, has been moored 32 yards 10° from the wreck, on the bearings—

WASHINGTON.
STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA.—NEAH BAY GAS AND WHISTLE BUOY.—CHARACTERISTIC OF LIGHT CHANGED.—On 16th October, 1915, the characteristic of the light exhibited from Neah Bay gas and whistle buoy 2 was changed from occulting white to flashing red of 120 candle-power every 3 seconds—thus, flash 0·3 second, eclipsed 2·7 seconds—without other change.
Approx. position: Lat. 48° 23′ 35″ N., long. 124° 36′ 25″ W.
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
MAUI.—KAHULUI HARBOUR.—LIGHT TO BE MOVED.—About 19th November, 1915, Kahului Breakwater light will be moved 280 yards 301° and re-established 39 ft. above the water and
