Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Marlborough Land District for other Land.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of the Land Act, 1908, as amended by section seventeen of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive by way of equality of exchange any sum not exceeding twenty-five per centum of the estimated value of the Crown land so granted:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange, and has agreed to pay to the Crown a sum of money by way of equality of exchange, and such sum does not exceed twenty-five per centum of the estimated value of the Crown land hereinbefore mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule upon payment by the owner thereof of the sum of money hereinbefore referred to by way of equality of exchange.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF CROWN LANDS AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 2,428 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XIX and XXIV, Avon Survey District. Commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 40, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District, and bounded towards the north-west by Sections 40, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, and 34, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District; thence generally towards the north-east by a one-chain road, Crown land, and the one-chain road aforesaid, 4434·5 links, 686 links, 3406·3 links, 723·4 links, and 1681·4 links; thence towards the south-east generally by Crown land, 38923·1 links; thence towards the south-west by Sections 57, 56, and 55, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District, 9380 links; thence again towards the north-west by Sections 51 and 50, Dillon’s Run, 8875 links; and again towards the south-west by Section 50, Dillon’s Run, the abutment of a public road, and Section 49, Dillon’s Run, 9755·9 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 19397/20, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LANDS TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.
ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 2,123 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XIX and XXV, Avon Survey District, being parts of Sections 25, 26, and 27, and Sections 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District. Bounded towards the north-west by the remaining portion of Sections 26 and 25, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District, 6943·4 links; thence generally towards the east by the Omaka River to the south-eastern corner of Section 32, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District; thence towards the south by the southern boundary of Section 32 aforesaid, 6300 links; thence generally towards the west by a road one chain wide, part Section 27, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District, and the road aforesaid, 7600 links, 13400 links, 1280 links, 870 links, 4190 links, to the point of commencement: saving and excepting a one-chain reserve along the left bank of Dillon Creek.
Also all that area containing by admeasurement 69 acres, more or less, being part of Section 57, Dillon’s Run, Omaka District, situated in Block XXIII, Avon Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the remaining portion of Section 57, 5868·9 links; towards the north-east by Crown land, 1960 links; towards the south-east by Crown land, 5330 links; and towards the south-west by a one-chain reserve along the Tummil River to the point of commencement.
Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the said areas are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 19397/20, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this tenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Wallace County.—Jacob’s River Hundred.
Section 45, Block VIII: Area, 299 acres 1 rood 18 perches. Capital value, £585. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £14 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £11 14s.
Section 46, Block VIII: Area, 329 acres 2 roods 8 perches. Capital value, £825. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £20 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £16 10s.
Section 5, Block XXII: Area, 306 acres 1 rood 19 perches. Capital value, £570. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £14 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £11 8s.
Altitudes range from 180 ft. to 580 ft. above sea-level. Chiefly hilly bush country, with broad topped spurs; bush originally consisted of white-pine, rimu, matai, totara, pokaka, miro, birch, kamahi, broadleaf, &c., which is now mostly worked out by sawmills. Soil generally good; well watered. Suitable for pastoral purposes and dairying. Situated from a mile and a quarter to three miles and a quarter by surveyed roads from Fairfax Railway-station, dairy factory, and school—about a quarter of a mile formed and gravelled, remainder unformed.
Section 45, Block VIII, contains about 12 acres, and Section 46, Block VIII, about 100 acres, of open country, hilly and flat, grassed with couch.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wallace County.—Aparima Hundred.
Section 41, Block I: Area, 316 acres 1 rood 36 perches. Capital value, £430. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £10 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 12s.
Section 42, Block I: Area, 317 acres 3 roods 14 perches. Capital value, £400. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £10. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8.
Altitudes range from 400 ft. to 730 ft. above sea-level. Nearly all worked-out bush, originally mostly birch, with mixed bush in places; chiefly hilly country, with roomy topped spurs. Soil generally fair; well watered. Suitable for pastoral purposes and dairying. Situated about three miles and a half from Otatau Railway-station, post-office, and school, about four miles and three-quarters from Otatau Dairy Factory, and about three miles from Ringway Railway-siding by road, of which about half a mile is as yet unformed, one mile formed, remainder formed and gravelled.

Section 3, Block XXII: Area, 295 acres 2 roods 7 perches. Capital value, £370. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £9 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 8s.
