A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by the Marriage Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Opotiki and Gisborne Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follows:β
OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
All that area bounded by a line along the seashore of the Bay of Plenty from the mouth of the Waiotahi River to Cape Runaway; thence along a right line to Hikurangi Trig. Station, thence to Kapua Trig. Station, to Arowhana Trig. Station, to Trig. Station No. 139, Tuanui-o-te-Kahakaha, and to Trig. Station No. 140, Pungarehu; thence along a right line to the northernmost corner of Section No. 1, Block II, Urutawa East Survey District, along the north-western boundary of that section, across a road, along the southern side of the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 2, across a road at the north-western corner of that section, and along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 2 and 1, Block I, and the western boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Pakihi Stream, along that stream to its source, along the northern boundary of Section No. 13 (forest reserve) in Block XIV, Urutawa Survey District, and Block II, Motu West Survey District, to its north-eastern corner, and along the eastern boundary of that section to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; thence along the north-western boundaries of Section No. 2, Block V, Sections Nos. 2, 1, and 4, Block IX, Motu Survey District, Sections Nos. 3 and 2, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, and Small Grazing-runs Nos 90 and 89, to the Koranga Stream, along that stream and a road to the western boundary of Section No. 3, Block II, Ngatapa Survey District, and along the western boundary of that section to Maungatapere Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Maungapohatu Trig. Station and a right line to the source of the Waiotahi River, and along the right bank of that river to the sea, the place of commencement.
MOTU DISTRICT.
All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the Koranga Stream, being the westernmost corner of Small Grazing-run No. 89 in Moanui Survey District; thence along the north-western boundaries of Small Grazing-runs 89 and 90, Sections 2 and 3, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, Motu Survey District, and Section 2, Block V, to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; along the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 13 (forest reserve) to the Pakihi Stream, along that stream to and along the western boundary of Section 1, Block I, Urutawa East Survey District, along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 1 and 2, said Block I, and the northern boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block II, Urutawa East Survey District, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 140, Pungarehu, a right line to Trig. Station 141, Mangahaumia, along the south-eastern boundary of Mangatu No. 4 Block, and the eastern boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block VIII, Motu Survey District, and Section 3, Block XII, to the Rangiriri Stream, and along that stream to its confluence with the Waikohu River; along that river to the easternmost corner of Waikohu-Matawai 1b Block, along the south-eastern boundary of that block and Section 2, Block IV, Ngatapa Survey District, across a road and railway reserve to and along the south-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block IV aforesaid, along the south-western boundary of that section and of Section 1, Block III, and the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 4 and 5, Block III, and Sections 2 and 3, Block II, Ngatapa Survey District, along the western boundary of the last-mentioned section to and along a road to the Koranga Stream, and along that stream to the westernmost corner of Small Grazing-run No. 89, the place of commencement.
GISBORNE DISTRICT.
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station No. 140, Pungarehu, Ngateretere Survey District; thence along a right line to Trig. Station No. 139, Tuanui-o-te-Kahakaha, to Trig. Station 178, Tutamoe, Trig. Station 170, Tangihanga, Trig. Station 168, Paraheka; thence along the western watershed of the Pakarae River over Trig. Stations Nos. 134, Arakihi, and 129, Ahititi, to the south-western boundary of Section No. 2 of Whangara No. 1 Block; thence along the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 2 and 1 of the said Whangara No. 1 Block to the Pakarae River, along that river to and along the south-western boundary of Puatai Block to the sea near Gable-end Foreland; thence along the seashore to Paritu, and along a right line to the confluence of the Ruakituri and Hangaroa Rivers; thence along the Ruakituri River to its confluence with the Mangarewarewa Stream; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 93, Ngapakira, a right line to Maungapohatu Trig. Station, and a right line to Maungatapere Trig. Station; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 3 and 2, Block II, Ngatapa Survey District, and of Sections 5 and 4, Block III,
