Powers delegated to the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserves described in the Schedule below (being lands reserved under the said Act), from the date of this notice until the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—

WILLIAM ANDREW COLLIS,
ROBERT WILLIAM JAMES DAVIS,
HENRY BLACKBURN LEATHAM,
STEPHENSON PERCY SMITH, F.R.G.S., and
THE COMMISSIONER OF CROWN LANDS FOR THE TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT (ex officio),

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board (herein referred to as “the Board”), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth. The first meeting shall be held at 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the twenty-third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and thereafter the meetings shall be held at 4 o’clock p.m. on the fourth Tuesday in the months of January, April, July, and October in each year, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

  2. The Commissioner of Crown lands shall be the Chairman of the Board. He may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  7. If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  9. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE.

RATAPIHIPIHI SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 50 acres, more or less, being Subdivision 1 of part of Native Reserve 5, Omata District (Ratapihipihi), Block VIII, Paritutu Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by other part of Native Reserve 5, Omata District, 1973 links; towards the north-east by part Section 477, Grey District, the abutment of a road, and again by part of Section 477 aforesaid, 2528·8 links; towards the south-east by Section 48, Omata District, 1972 links; and towards the south-west by the other part of Native Reserve 5, Omata District, 2539·2 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

PUKETI PA SCENIC RESERVE.

Also all that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 9 acres 3 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Reserve Y, New Plymouth Town Belt. Bounded towards the north by cemetery reserve, 428·4 links; towards the east generally by the Henui Stream, 3500 links; towards the south by Subdivision 7 of E, Fitzroy District, New Plymouth Town Belt, 34·5 links; and towards the west by part F, 73·25 links, and by the other part of F, 165·55 links, Fitzroy District, New Plymouth Town Belt: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Trustees for the Cobden Public Cemetery appointed.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fifty-fifth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the local authority specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto to have the control and management of the public cemetery specified in Part II of the said Schedule.

COBDEN.

ALL that area of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 16 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 1323, Block IV, Cobden Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Pitt Street, 245·5 links; towards the north-east by Crown lands, 388 links; towards the south-east by Crown lands, 233 links, and by signal-station reserve, 28 links; and towards the south-west by signal-station reserve, 399·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 2/299, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

Postmasters appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons set out in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at the places set opposite their names in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.
