purposes over such part of the Apiti Domain (not exceeding nine acres and a half) as he thinks fit, and shall set apart the said area as a site for a drill-shed and otherwise for military or defence purposes, and that the land so set apart shall thereupon become subject to the provisions of section seventy-five of the Defence Amendment Act, 1912, as if the land had been vested in His Majesty pursuant to that section :

And whereas it is desired that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being portion of the said domain, should be set apart as a site for a drill-shed and otherwise for military or defence purposes :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and twenty-three of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1913, do hereby cancel the reservation for recreation purposes over the land described in the Schedule hereto, and do hereby set apart the said land as a site for a drill-shed and otherwise for military or defence purposes.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 16 perches, more or less, being part of Section 51, Block XI, Apiti Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Section 51A, Block XI, Apiti Survey District, 400 links; towards the south-east by the Oroua Valley Road, 150 links; and towards the south-west and north-west by other part of Section 51, 400 links and 150 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. I/509, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland Land District.

L I V E R P O O L, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing 843 acres 3 roods, more or less, being part of the eastern portion of Allotment 75 and part of Allotment 95, Otau Parish, Block XIV, Wairoa Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Kiripaka Block, across a public road, again by the aforesaid block, and by Ore and Taupo Block, 10477·5 links; towards the south-east by Allotment 94, Otau Parish, across a public road, and again by Allotment 94 aforesaid, 8919 links; towards the south generally by a public road, 233·8, 340, 514, 395, 202, 522, 753, 266·6, 338·4, and 834·1 links; towards the north-west, south-west, and again towards the south-east by part of Allotment 95 and part of eastern portion of Allotment 75, Otau Parish (a mineral lease), 4854, 71·2, 5·4, 12·1, 2183·4, and 4206 links; again towards the south-west by Allotment 96, Otau Parish aforesaid, 4674·6 links; and again towards the north-west by the western portion of Allotment 75 of the aforesaid parish, 9039 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: save and excepting out of the above-described boundaries a public road and Allotment 110, Otau Parish, due allowance for which has been made in the area. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. XXII/1017, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. For water-conservation purposes,

Also all that area in the Auckland Land District, containing 2 acres 1 rood 5 perches, more or less, being Section 4, Block X, Ohinemuri Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north-east generally by Grayden’s Creek; towards the south by Section 6, Block X, Ohinemuri Survey District, 589·4 links; and towards the south-west by Section 2, Block X aforesaid, 167·1 and 201·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. VI/6 (51), deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged purple. (Auckland Plan 18329, blue.) For a site for a public school.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.

L I V E R P O O L, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Awakino County.—Whareorino Survey District.

SECTION 8, Block VII: Area, 683 acres 3 roods; capital value, £1,030; half-yearly rent, £20 12s.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, kohekohe, tawhero, rimu, rata, &c., with light undergrowth of mahoe, makomako, punga, supplejacks, &c. Soil of medium quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Distant twenty-three miles from Awakino—twelve miles by formed road, eight miles 6 ft. track, two miles 3 ft. bridle-track, and one mile very rough track; or sixteen miles from Marakopa—eight miles formed road, balance bridle-track along coast.

Ohinemuri County.—Aroha Survey District.

Section 8, Block III: Area, 123 acres 1 rood 39 perches; capital value, £95; half-yearly rent, £1 18s.

Weighted with £18, valuation for fencing.

Altitude, 350 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly and broken land, covered with fern and manuka. Soil light sandy loam, on clay subsoil; poorly watered by swampy gullies. Distant three miles and a half from Waihi Railway-station by formed cart-road.

Section 9, Block III: Area, 125 acres 3 roods 37 perches; capital value, £160; half-yearly rent, £3 4s.

Weighted with £10, valuation for fencing.

Altitude, 350 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level. Level to undulating land, covered with short fern and manuka, intersected by swampy gullies; mostly ploughable. Soil light sandy loam, on clay subsoil; rather poorly watered by springs. Distant three miles from Waihi Railway-station by formed cart-road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.
