A PPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 20th September, 1915, for the position of Draughtsman, Public Works Department.

Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

The duties comprise the plotting of plans and sections of roads, railways, &c., from field notes, and the completion of finished drawings; making drawings of simple bridges and other structures; making tracings of plans of all descriptions; preparing maps by enlarging or reducing by eidograph and pentagraph; calculating areas of surfaces; calculating earthwork and bridge quantities; using the planimeter.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the Clerical Division, Class VII. Salary, £190 per annum; maximum, £220.

The successful applicant will be required to perform elementary instrument-work, comprising levelling, use of clinometer, prismatic compass, chain, and the occasional use of theodolite on railway survey parties; also the use of the same instruments in road-grading.
The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £180.

N OTICE is hereby given that an examination of candidates for certificates of competency under the regulations of the Public Service Commissioner gazetted on the 9th July and 27th August, 1914, will commence on Tuesday, 28th September, and will be held at the District Survey Offices at Auckland, Napier, New Plymouth, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, Hokitika, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill, if candidates present themselves.
Applications to be examined should be made in writing to the Surveyor-General at the Government Buildings, Wellington, on or before the 20th September, 1915, and a fee of 5s. must be paid before the candidate will be allowed to sit.
Applications should be made in writing on the printed forms obtainable at the above offices, and be accompanied by the plans and documents required by the regulations and specified on the forms, and should be marked outside “Draughtsmen’s Examination.”

Changes of Names of Divisions, and of Control of certain Farms.—Notice No. 1795.
Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce,

I T is hereby notified for public information that the names of the four Divisions of this Department have been altered, as shown in the following statement :—
Former Name. New Name.
Fields and Experimental Farms Division .. .. Fields Division.
Live-stock and Meat Division .. .. Live-stock Division.
Orchards, Gardens, and Apiaries Division .. .. Horticulture Division.
Dairy-produce Division .. .. Dairy Division.
It is also desired to announce that the control of the Waerenga, Tauranga, and Arataki Experimental Farms has been transferred from the Fields Division to the Horticulture Division, and that in future these places will be known as horticultural stations instead of experimental farms.
The name of the Waerenga establishment has been altered to Te Kauwhata, the full designation thus becoming Te Kauwhata Horticultural Station.
