A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by the Marriage Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Nightcaps, Lumsden, Otautau, and Orepuki Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into three marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follows:—

LUMSDEN DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north by Manapouri, Mararoa, and Burwood Survey Districts from Lake Manapouri to the Oreti River, and across that river to Windley Stream; thence towards the north-west by a right line to Eyre Peak; thence towards the east generally by a right line to the source of the Mataura River, and by that river to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section No. 511, Hokonui Survey District; thence towards the south generally by a right line to the easternmost corner of that section and by Sections Nos. 201, 563, and 202 to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the road at the easternmost corner of Section No. 148, by that road and its continuation to the junction of roads at the northernmost corner of Section No. 198, by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 198, 629, 628, 627, 626, and 625 to Section No. 50, and by that section to Longridge Stream; by that stream to its confluence with Waimea Stream, and by Waimea Stream to the road intersecting Section No. 169; thence by that road and its continuation through Sections Nos. 403, 99, and 167, and by Sections Nos. 486, 798, 797, 796, and the road intersecting Sections Nos. 354, 405, and 670, and its continuation along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 19, through Section No. 445, and along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 258, Hokonui Survey District, to and across the Oreti River, by that river and Southland County to the north-western corner of Section No. 162A, Taringatura Survey District; thence by a line running due west to and across the Aparima River, and by that river to Etal Stream; thence by that stream to its source; thence by a right line to Spence Peak; thence by a right line to the source of R-dcliff Creek, and by that creek to the Waiau River; and thence towards the west by the Waiau River and Lake Manapouri to Manapouri Survey District, the place of commencement.

OTAUTAU DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north by R dcliff Creek from the Waiau River to its source; thence by a right line to Spence Peak; thence by a right line to the source of Etal Stream, and by that stream to the Aparima River; by the right bank of that river to a point due west of the north-western corner of Section No. 162A, Taringatura Survey District, and by a right line to the said north-western corner of that section; thence towards the east by Southland County to Jacob's River Hundred; thence towards the south generally by Jacob's River Hundred and Longwood Survey District to the north-eastern corner of Block XVIII, Longwood Survey District; thence by a right line to the confluence of the Orawia River and the Waiau River; and towards the west generally by the said Waiau River to R-dcliff Creek, the place of commencement.

OREPUKI DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north-east by a right line from the confluence of the Waiau River and the Orawia River to the north-eastern corner of Block XVIII, Longwood Survey District; thence towards the north by Waian Survey District to the western boundary of Aparima Hundred; towards the east by Aparima Hundred to its south-western corner; thence by a right line to the source of the Ourawera Stream and by that stream to the sea; towards the south and south-west by the sea to the mouth of the Waiau River; and towards the west generally by that river to the place of commencement.

ERRATA.—In description of Otara Riding of County of Oootiki at page 2764 of Gazette No. 93, of 5th August, 1915, for “Block XII,” in the eleventh line thereof, insert “Block XIV”; for “Block XV,” in the twenty-ninth line, insert “Block XI”; for “Block XII,” in the forty-sixth line, insert “Block VIII.”

In the Proclamation taking land for the purpose of paddocking driven cattle in Block XVI, Mangaoporo Survey District, Waiapu County, published in Gazette No. 98, page 2935, of 19th August, 1915, for “4 acres” read “14 acres.”
