Opening Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Wednesday, the thirteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waimea County.—Tadmor Survey District.
Section 3, Block XIV: Area, 505 acres; capital value, £500; half-yearly rent, £10.
Four years’ exemption from rent.
Broken pastoral country, well watered; covered with forest consisting of birch and cedar, with a little rimu, rata, and totara. Fair soil. Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 2,000 ft. Two miles and a half from Kaka Railway-station—half a mile formed road, balance unformed road along river-bank.
Murchison County.—Tainui Survey District.
Section 3, Block V: Area, 472 acres; capital value, £240; half-yearly rent, £4 16s.
Two years’ exemption from rent.
Land broken, inferior quality; nearly all low hills and gullies, covered with birch forest; formation granite and clay gravels. Accessible from Tadmor, about sixteen miles by formed road.
Inangahua County.—Rahu Survey District.
Section 5, Block VII: Area, 436 acres; capital value, £260; half-yearly rent, £5 4s.
Four years’ exemption from rent.
Half area consists of gravelly terraces and river-flats, remainder undulating and broken on western side, all suitable for grass; covered with mixed forest. Soil on flats alluvial wash, gravelly loam on terraces, with granite boulders, mossy in places. Altitude, 1,100 ft. to 1,750 ft. Fronts Woolley River, about nine miles from Warwick Junction, accessible by river-bed and horse-track.
Murchison County.—Tutaki Survey District.
Section 22, Block V: Area, 360 acres; capital value, £220; half-yearly rent, £4 8s.
Two years’ exemption from rent.
Weighted with £25, valuation for improvements.
All hill country of good quality, but on shady side of valley. About 20 acres near river are undulating, balance very steep; covered with forest, principally birch, with a few pines in valleys; underscrub consists of horopito, broadleaf, and five-finger. Altitude, 650 ft. to 2,301 ft. Six miles and a half from Murchison—six miles formed road, balance unformed.
Buller County.—Steeples Survey District.
Section 7, Block I: Area, 167 acres 0 roods 23 perches; capital value, £160; half-yearly rent, £3 4s.
Weighted with £8, valuation for improvements.
Flat and undulating country. Poor soil, on cemented sandstone. Originally covered with heavy bush, from which milling-timber has been removed. Fronts Tauranga Road, which is formed and metalled; adjoins village of Omau.
Section 18, Block III: Area, 277 acres; capital value, £260; half-yearly rent, £5 4s.
Weighted with £24, valuation for improvements.
Flat and undulating country. Poor soil, on cemented sandstone. Originally covered with heavy bush, from which milling-timber has been removed. About two miles and a half from Village of Omau by road, the last three-quarters of a mile is unformed.
Section 19, Block I: Area, 66 acres; capital value, £60; half-yearly rent, £1 4s.
Flat and undulating country. Poor soil, on cemented sandstone. Originally covered with heavy bush, from which milling-timber has been removed. Fronts Tauranga Road, which is formed and metalled. About half a mile from Village of Omau.
Buller County.—Mokihinui Survey District.
Section 53, Block XI: Area, 650 acres; capital value, £390; half-yearly rent, £7 16s.
Four years’ exemption from rent.
Broken country, papa and sandstone formation; fair soil. Covered with light tawero, birch, and thick underscrub. Access by beach road; two miles from mouth of Mokihinui River.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Burnett Survey District.
Section 8, Block III: Area, 657 acres; capital value, £260; half-yearly rent, £5 4s.
Four years’ exemption from rent.
Good pastoral land, ranging from low river-flats to fairly high hills. The soil is good on the flats, and varies from good to inferior on the hills; granite and sandstone formation. Covered with heavy timber, mostly brown and silver birch. Well watered. Accessible from Murchison, eighteen miles by good dray-road and eight miles by bridle-track.
Murchison County.—Lyell Survey District.
Section 10, Block XVI: Area, 446 acres; capital value, £160; half-yearly rent, £3 4s.
Two years’ exemption from rent.
Sufficient flat land for homestead, about 120 acres fern and scrub, remainder mixed bush; formation limestone, sandstone, and granite rocks; well watered. Suitable for fruit-growing and pastoral purposes. Eight miles from Murchison by dray-road.
Inangahua County.—Maimai Survey District.
Section 7, Block XVI: Area, 470 acres; capital value, £190; half-yearly rent, £3 16s.
Four years’ exemption from rent.
About 290 acres open pakahi country, poor soil; balance forest. Ten miles from Reefton—seven miles by main road, balanced unmetalled road.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

Notice of taking Land at Auckland under Sections 125, 126, 127, and 128 of the Harbours Act, 1908.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
BY virtue and in pursuance of the power and authorities vested in me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-fifth, one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth, one-hundred-and-twenty-seventh, and one-hundred-and-twenty-eighth sections of the Harbours Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, on behalf of His Majesty the King, give notice to the Auckland Harbour Board that one month from the day of the date hereof I shall enter upon and take possession of the land described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in Block VIII, Rangitoto Survey District, Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 31 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less, being portion of the Auckland Harbour Board’s Endowments, and being bounded as follows: Commencing at a peg marked “A” on plan hereinafter referred to; on the north-east by the south-western boundary of Quay Street extension to the boundary of the railway reserve taken by Proclamation dated the 16th day of February, 1915, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 23, of the same month, page 597; on the south-east generally by the boundary of the railway reserve taken as aforesaid, by the high-water mark, by a line bearing 266° 50′ a distance of 455·93 links, and by a line bearing 218° 31′ a distance of 576·4 links; on the south-west generally by the north-east boundary of the King’s Drive to the boundary of the railway reserve taken by Proclamation dated the 7th day of March, 1912, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 28, of the same month, page 1131; thence by the boundary of the railway reserve to the commencing-point. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked W.R. 22802 (S.O. 18353, blue), deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, and thereon edged blue.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.
