NOTICE OF RESULT OF POLL.

In the matter of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 20th day of January, 1915,
a proposal was submitted by the Ashley County Council to
the ratepayers of the county for raising a special loan of
£2,000 for the purpose of erecting a bridge over the Okuku
River, and approaches and protective works; and that the
number of votes recorded respectively for and against the
proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 105; against the
proposal, 5.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Constitution of a Special Roading District in Terms of Section
50 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913.

PURSUANT to section 50 of the Land Laws Amendment
Act, 1913, and the regulations thereunder, I, William
Ferguson Massey, the Minister of Lands, do hereby, on the
recommendation of the Land Board of the Wellington Land
District, declare the lands referred to in the Schedule hereto
to be a special district for the purposes of the said section;
and such district shall be known as the Kauarapaoa Special
Road District.

As witness my hand this 23rd day of January, 1915.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road through
Section 20, Block IV, Totoro Survey District, Taranaki
Land District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under
the authority of section 14 of the Land Act, 1908, that
the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 11th
day of October, 1914, duly taken and laid off through the
land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of
the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the
16th day of July, 1914.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken for a road:
10 acres.
Portion of Section 20, Block IV, Totoro Survey District.

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more par-
ticularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. XVI/19,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

The Legislature Act, 1908.

IN exercise of all powers and authorities enabling us in
this behalf, we, being the Judges of the Supreme Court
of New Zealand named and appointed to try the petition
presented under the Legislature Act, 1908, and Acts amend-
ing the same, by Hugh McLean Campbell, of Poukawa,
Hawke’s Bay, Sheep-farmer, against the return and election
of Robert McNab, of Hastings, Farmer, as a Member of
Parliament for the Electoral District of Hawke’s Bay, do
hereby fix the Supreme Court House in Napier as the place
at which, and 10 o’clock in the forenoon of Monday, the
22nd day of February, 1915, as the time when, the said
petition shall be tried.

Judges appointed to try certain Election Petitions.

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND.

In the matter of the Legislature Act, 1908, and Acts
amending the same.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Legislature
Act, 1908, and Acts amending the same, I hereby
nominate myself and the Honourable Worley Bassett Edwards,
Esquire, being respectively Judges of the Supreme Court of
New Zealand, to be the Judges before whom shall take place
the trial of the election petition following, that is to say:—
(1.) The petition of Hugh McLean Campbell, of Poukawa,
in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, Sheep-farmer,
against the return of Robert McNab as Member of Parliament
for the Electoral District of Hawke’s Bay, and for a recount
and scrutiny of the votes given and tendered at the election
for the said Electoral District of Hawke’s Bay held on the
10th December, 1914; and that it may be determined that
the said Robert McNab was not duly elected and returned
as a Member of Parliament for the said Electoral District
of Hawke’s Bay, and that the said Hugh McLean Campbell
was duly elected and ought to have been returned.

The Foreign Insurance Companies' Deposits Act, 1908.

THE Public Trustee hereby gives notice, pursuant to
section 20 of the above Act, that the Australian
Widows’ Fund Life Assurance Society (Limited), by a notice
dated 14th December, 1914, and served on the Public Trustee
on 7th January, 1915, duly notified the Public Trustee that
it has ceased to carry on business in New Zealand, and pro-
poses to withdraw from the Public Trustee the deposits made
under the provisions of the above Act.
