(d.) Give satisfactory evidence as to moral character, and produce a satisfactory certificate of health from a medical officer approved by the Board:
(e.) Make a declaration of his intention to complete his course at the training college and thereafter to become a teacher in a registered school:
(f.) Enter into a bond as prescribed in clause 16 hereof.
(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division A shall be at the rate of £40 a year, together with the fees of the University college classes attended by the student with the approval of the Principal, with the further addition at the rate of £25 a year in the case of any student who is obliged to live away from home to attend a training college, or of the actual cost of travelling (not exceeding £10 per annum) in the case of a student who lives at home but is obliged to travel more than four miles daily each way to attend the training college.
Two-year Studentships, Division B.
- (1.) To be admitted in Division B a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Be not less than seventeen years of age, and have passed the Matriculation Examination of the University of New Zealand, or obtained a higher leaving certificate:
(b.) Comply within six months of the date of admission with such conditions as to probation in teaching as the Principal of the training college, with the approval of the Committee of Advice, may require:
(c.) Satisfy conditions (d), (e), and (f) as for students in Division A.
(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division B shall be at the rate of £20 a year, together with the fees of the University college classes attended by the student with the approval of the Principal, with the further addition at the rate of £25 a year in the case of any student who is obliged to live away from home to attend the training college, or of the actual cost of travelling (not exceeding £10 per annum) in the case of a student who lives at home but is obliged to travel more than four miles daily each way to attend the training college.
One-year Studentships, Division C.
- (1.) To be admitted in Division C a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Be a graduate of a recognized university, or have, as a matriculated student, satisfactorily completed a two-years course at a recognized agricultural college or at a school of home science recognized by the University of New Zealand:
(b.) Give such evidence of teaching ability or promise as the Principal with the approval of the Committee of Advice may require:
(c.) Undertake to devote his whole attention to subjects of professional study and practice under the direction of the Principal:
(d.) Satisfy conditions (d), (e), and (f) as for students of Division A.
as for a student in Division A.
(2.) The allowances payable to a student in Division C shall be at the same rate as for a student in Division A.
Short-period Studentships, Division D.
- (1.) To be admitted in Division D a student must satisfy all of the following conditions—namely, he must—
(a.) Have passed the Intermediate Examination, or be the holder of an intermediate certificate:
(b.) Have been, for not less than two years immediately preceding his admission, regularly employed in teaching in a registered school or schools:
(c.) Be deemed, on the certificate of an Inspector of Schools, worthy of further training in professional work:
(d.) Satisfy conditions (d) and (e) as for a student of Division A.
(2.) The course for a student of Division D shall be for such period, being not less than three months or more than one year, as the Principal with the approval of the Committee of Advice shall determine, and shall be wholly professional or partly academic and partly professional, at the discretion of the Principal.
(3.) The allowances payable to a student of Division D shall be at the annual rate of the allowances payable to a student of Division B. - Notwithstanding anything in the above provisions the Principal may, on the recommendation of an Inspector of Schools, admit to the training college, for such period not exceeding three months as he may determine, any teacher of a registered school for the purpose of
