NOTICE OF CHANGE OF NAME.

I, FREDERICK STEWART BATES, of Auckland, A.B.
Seaman, having assumed for a period of approximately
thirteen years the surname of LILEWALL, and having been
known and been employed as and engaged in the occupation
of a seaman in various ships and vessels under the said sur-
name of Lilewall, do hereby give notice that I intend hence-
forth upon all occasions and at all times to sign and use and
be called and known by my correct surname of BATES in
lieu of and in substitution for the said surname of Lilewall;
and that such intended change is formally declared and
evidenced by deed-poll under my hand and seal dated this
day, and intended to be enrolled forthwith in the office of
the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Auckland.

NOTICE is hereby given that at the ordinary meeting of
the Manukau County Council held on Tuesday, the
11th day of August, 1914, the resolution passed at a special
meeting of the Council held on the 14th day of July, 1914,
directing that the Council's share of the cost of the construc-
tion of a bridge over the Tamaki River at Panmure be appor-
tioned between the Pakuranga, Turanga, and Papatoetoe
Ridings of the Manukau County, and be borne by such
ridings in the proportions of 68 per centum by the Paku-
ranga Riding, 24 per centum by the Turanga Riding, and
8 per centum by the Papatoetoe Riding, and that, for the
purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges
on a loan of £10,500 to be borrowed to provide for the
Council's share of the cost aforesaid, a special rate be
levied of one halfpenny in the Pakuranga Riding, one-sixth of
a penny in the Turanga Riding, and one-sixtieth of a penny
in the Papatoetoe Riding respectively in the pound upon
the capital value of all rateable property in each riding, on
the terms set forth in such resolution, was confirmed as a
special order pursuant to the provisions of the Counties Act,
1908, and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF MOUNT ALBERT.

COPY OF RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE PASSED AT A
MEETING OF THE MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH COUNCIL ON
MONDAY, 10TH AUGUST, 1914.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the
Mount Albert Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £23,953, authorized to be raised by the
Mount Albert Borough Council, under the above-mentioned
Act, for the following purposes:—
(a.) Formation, metalling, kerbing, and channelling of the
new North Road between Morningside tram ter-
minus and the proposed tram terminus at Mount
Albert (near King George's Hall), including the com-
pletion of the lowering of the said road at the
Morningside Railway Crossing: The sum of £10,500
(c.) Formation-work, new Edendale Road: The sum of
£1,500
(e.) Extension of water-supply: The sum of £8,769
(f.) Sundry drainage-work: The sum of £500
(g.) First year's interest and sinking fund, cost of raising
loan, and contingencies: The sum of £2,684
the said Mount Albert Borough Council hereby makes and
levies a special rate of one-third of a penny in the pound
upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the
Borough of Mount Albert; and that such special rate shall
be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable on the thirtieth day of September in each
and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the
resolution passed by the Mount Albert Borough Council at a
meeting held on Monday, 10th August, 1914.

HAWKE'S BAY COUNTY COUNCIL.

SHERENDEN TELEPHONE LOAN.—RESOLUTION MAKING
SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them by
the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Hawke's Bay
County Council do hereby resolve as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by this
Council, under the Country Telephone Lines Act, 1912, to
defray the cost of erecting a telephone line from the Hastings
Telephone Exchange to the Sherenden Settlement, this
Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of three-
tenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of
all the properties referred to in the schedule to a certain
petition presented to this Council on the 8th day of June
last and signed by nineteen ratepayers living in the Sheren-
den Settlement, being the properties which at the date of
presentation of the said petition were occupied by the signa-
tories thereof respectively. The said special rate to be an
annually recurring rate during the term or currency of the
said loan, and to be payable on the first day of January in
each year during that term (being a period of twelve years
from the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred
and fourteen), or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate
of interest on the said loan to be five pounds (£5) per centum
per annum.
I, Thomas Mason Chambers, Chairman of the Hawke's Bay
County Council, do hereby certify that the above resolution
was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the said
Council held on the 10th day of August, 1914.
In proof thereof the common seal of the Hawke's Bay
County Council was duly affixed this 21st day of August,
1914, in the presence of—

RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Taieri Land Drainage Act, 1910, the
Taieri Land Drainage Act, 1912, the Land Drainage Act,
1908, and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Western
Taieri Land Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £12,000, authorized to be raised by the
Western Taieri Land Drainage Board, under the above-
mentioned Acts, for the purpose of completing the scheme
of drainage now being carried out—that is to say, the con-
tour channel, diversion of Wyllies Creek, subsidiary drains
and embankments—the said Western Taieri Land Drainage
Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of twelve,
eleven, ten, nine, six, and four and one-half pence per acre
on "A," "B," "C," "D," "E," and "F" classes of land
respectively upon all the rateable land within the special-
rating area, the said special rating-area comprising River
Sections 1 to 34, both inclusive; Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 21,
22, 36, 37, 38, parts Sections 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 34, and 35,
Irregular Block: the whole of Blocks One, Two, and Six;
Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, parts Sections 10, 11, and 12 of Block
Three; parts Sections 1, 2, and 3 of Block Four; Sections 1,
2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and part Section 6 of Block Five; all
of Taieri Survey District: the whole of Blocks Three, Four,
and Five; Sections 1 of 1, 2 of 1, 1 of 2, 2 of 2, 4, 1 of 6,
2 of 6, 3 of 6, 1 of 8, 2 of 8, 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 12, 14, 1 of 16,

Commencing at a point on the right bank of the Taieri
River on the north-western boundary of River Sec-
tion 34, Taieri Survey District; thence along the right
bank of the Taieri River to its junction with the main
outlet of Lakes Waihola and Waipori; thence along the
left bank of the main outlet from Lake Waipori, being
the southern and western boundaries of Sections 31, 30,
