UNITED STATES, PACIFIC COAST.—CALIFORNIA.

CAPE SAN QUENTIN.—BREAKER REPORTED SOUTH-WESTWARD OF.—Position: At a distance of 6·4 miles, 250° (S. 57° W. mag.), from San Quentin Bay observation spot. Lat. 30° 19¾' N., long. 116° 6' W. Description: A single breaker, indicating the existence of a rock. Note: "Breakers reported (1914)" has been placed against the above position on the charts. Variation: 13° E. Charts affected: No. 1924, San Quentin Bay; No. 2324, Cape San Lucas to San Diego Bay. Publication: W.C. Central America and the United States, 1907, pages 317, 318. Authority: U.S.A. Hyd. ENGLAND, EAST COAST.—RIVER THAMES ENTRANCE.

MOUSE LIGHT-VESSEL.—ALTERATION IN CHARACTER OF LIGHT AND FOG-SIGNAL.—Former notice: No. 684 of 1914. Position: Lat. 51° 30¾' N., long. 0° 58¼' E.

(a.) Light.—Abridged description of new light: Lt. fl., green, ev. 20 secs., vis. 11 m. Details: The revolving green light has been replaced by a flashing green light every twenty seconds, showing thus, flash 1 sec., eclipse 19 secs. Remarks: The lantern being fixed at the masthead will serve as a daymark in lieu of the ball as heretofore; the other details will remain unchanged.

NOTE.—This plan will be on the new edition of 2591 shortly to be published.

URUGUAY.—RIO DE LA PLATA.

PUNTA ARTILLERIA.—WRECK SOUTHWARD OF, MARKED BY LIGHT-BUOY.—(a.) Wreck.—Position: At a distance of about 5·4 miles, southward, from the point. Description: Wreck of the hulk "Pluma."

(b.) Light-buoy.—Position: At a distance of about 165 yards, north-westward, from the wreck. Lat. 34° 32' 30" S., long. 57° 34' W., on Chart No. 1751. Description: A green light-buoy exhibiting a flashing green light. Charts affected: No. 1751, Sauce Point to Martin Garcia Island; No. 1749, Monte Video to Buenos Aires; No. 2544, Rio de la Plata; No. 1324, Rio de la Plata to Cape Dos Bahias. Publications: South American Pilot, Part I, 1911, page 391. Authority: Monte Video Notice No 221 of 1914.

SOUTH AMERICA.—ARGENTINA.

SECOND BARRANCA POINT.—PERMANENT LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—Former notices: Nos. 353 and 425 of 1914. Position: On Second Barranca Point. Lat. 40° 45¾' S., long. 62° 16½' W. Abridged description: Lt. gp. fl. (3) ev. 10 secs., 154 ft., vis. 18 m. Details: Character—a group flashing white light showing a group of three flashes every ten seconds, thus, flash 0·1 sec., eclipse 2 secs.; flash 0·1 sec., eclipse 2 secs.; flash 0·1 sec., eclipse 5·7 secs. Elevation—154 ft. Visibility—18 miles. Order—3rd. Catadioptric. Structure—black hexagonal tower, 113 ft. in height, with keeper's dwelling, painted in red and white bands, situated eastward of it.

BAY OF BENGAL, BURMA.—ARAKAN RIVER, SOUTHERN APPROACH.

BARONGA POINT.—MUD VOLCANO, SOUTHWARD OF.—Position: At a distance of about 8½ miles, southward, of Baronga Point. Lat. 19° 40' N., long. 93° 2' 15" E., on Chart No. 1369. Details: An active mud volcano with two summits has appeared in the foregoing position; this volcano on the 1st May, 1914, was about 30 ft. in height and about one cable in extent.

BARAGUA FLATS LIGHT-VESSEL.—ALTERATION IN POSITION. —New position: At a distance of 2 miles, southward, from former position. Lat. 15° 27' N., long. 95° 11' E., on Chart No. 823. Description: As described in the List of Lights. Remarks: The above change has been rendered necessary owing to the extension of the Baragua Flats to the southward; a note with regard to this extension has been placed on the charts. Mariners are warned to keep well to the southward of the light-vessel.

GULF OF MARTABAN.

DOUBLE ISLAND LIGHT.—CORRECTION TO CHART NO. 1845. —Correction: The obscured sector of the above light shown on certain copies of Chart No. 1845 should be expunged; the light is visible from 353° (N. 8° W. mag.), through north, to 173° (S. 8° E. mag.). Variation: 1° E. Chart affected: No. 1845, Moulmein River and approaches. Publication: List of Lights, Part VI, 1914, No. 663. Authority: Bombay Notice No. 72M of 1914.
