[No. 91

  1. Every driver, rider, or person in charge of a motor on
    a road shall when approaching a disc coming towards the red
    side thereof, if such disc is visible or its existence is or ought
    to be known to such driver, rider, or person, slow down the
    motor to a speed not exceeding six miles an hour when passing
    the disc, and shall not exceed that speed until passing
    another disc and coming towards the other side or the white
    side thereof.

  2. No person shall drive, propel, or take, or cause to be
    driven, propelled, or taken, any motor across any bridge or
    causeway at a greater speed than six miles an hour.

  3. No motor-car shall be driven or operated on any road
    unless such motor-car is fitted with at least two efficient
    brakes, and no motor not being a motor-car shall be so driven
    or operated unless such motor is fitted with at least one
    efficient brake.

  4. No person driving or causing to be driven any motor
    on any road shall use any cut-out apparatus or device which
    will allow the exhaust gases from the engine to escape into
    the atmosphere without first passing through a silencer,
    expansion-chamber, or other contrivance suitable and efficient for reducing as far as may reasonably be practicable
    the noise that would otherwise be caused by the escape of
    the said gas.

  5. During the period between sunset and one hour before
    sunrise the person in charge of a motor which is being driven
    on the Beach Road shall carry attached thereto three lamps,
    each so constructed and placed as to exhibit a white light
    in the direction in which the motor is proceeding, such light
    being sufficiently clear and strong to afford adequate means
    of signalling the approach and position of the motor; and
    every such person shall also carry at the rear of his motor
    a red light sufficiently clear and strong to afford adequate
    means of signalling the position of the motor; and no person
    in charge of a motor being driven on the Beach Road shall
    use acetylene or electric light unless such light be shaded
    with gauze.

  6. Every person who shall commit a breach of or fail to
    comply with any of the provisions of this by-law shall for
    every such breach or failure be deemed to be guilty of an
    offence, and for every such offence shall be liable to a penalty
    not exceeding £10.

The common seal of the corporation of the Inhabitants of
the Portobello Road District was hereunto affixed by the
authority of the Board this 16th day of June, 1914.

the Kaukatea Road District.

County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913.

SPECIAL ORDER MERGING THE KAU KATEA ROAD DISTRICT.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 31 of
the Counties Act, 1908, the Wanganui County Council, on
a petition of the majority of the ratepayers of the Kaukatea
Road District whose property in respect of which they are
rated aggregates more than half of the rateable property
therein, resolves by way of special order that on and after
the 1st day of October, 1914, the said Kaukatea Road
District shall be merged in the County of Wanganui, and the
Board thereof abolished.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and In-
habitants of the County of Wanganui is hereto affixed by
and in the presence of—

I hereby certify that the above special order was made at
a properly constituted special meeting of the Wanganui
County Council held on the 5th day of June, 1914, and con-

firmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 3rd day of July,

No. 12, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than
66 ft. instead of 99 ft.
