Recreation Reserves in Canterbury Land District brought under Part II of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth day of January, 1914.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-sixth section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserves for recreation in the Canterbury Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act; and such reserves shall hereafter form part of Ellesmere Domain, and be managed, administered, and dealt with as a public domain by the Ellesmere Domain Board.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres, more or less, being Reserve 3940 (in red), formerly parts of Rural Sections 3344 and 4041, situate in the Southbridge Town District, Blocks I and V, Southbridge Survey District. Commencing at a point the same being distant 744 links north-east from the intersection of the east boundary of Broad Street with St. James Street; thence in a north-west direction by a line bearing 343° 56' 30", 149.6 links, to the boundary of the Southbridge Railway Reserve; thence by the boundary of the aforesaid railway reserve in a north-east direction, 700 links; thence by lines bearing 143° 56' 30", 1150.2 links; 240° 25', 700 links; and 343° 56' 30", 1000.6 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Reserve 3939 (in red), formerly part of Rural Section 5979, situate in Block XIV, Leeston Survey District. Commencing at a point on the south boundary of the Drain Road, the same being distant 1925.5 links in a north-west direction from the intersection of the Leeston-Christchurch Road and Drain Road; thence by lines bearing 219° 29' 30", 1375.5 links; 302° 4', 326 links; 301° 30' 30", 428.3 links; 39° 30', 1302.6 links, to the south boundary of the Drain Road; thence in a south-east direction by the south boundary of the aforesaid road, 767.3 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1444/36A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Regulations under the Fisheries Act, 1908.

WHEREAS it is enacted by the fifth section of the Fisheries Act, 1908 (hereinafter called "the said Act"), that the Governor in Council may make regulations for, amongst other things, generally regulating the sea-fishing of the Dominion, and imposing conditions and restrictions on the taking of fish:
And whereas it is desirable to make the regulations herein-after set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of the said Act; and doth declare that such regulation shall have force and effect throughout the Dominion,
REGULATIONS.
- In these regulations the term "long-line" shall mean and include lines set, moored, or placed for the purpose of taking fish, but shall not mean or include deep "hand-lines."
- No long line set, moored, or placed for the purpose of taking fish shall be left for a longer period than two hours without being attended to and the fish taken off.
- The registered owner or master of any fishing-boat who engages in long-line fishing shall distinctly mark the letters and registered number of such boat on each mark-buoy or object to which he has a long line attached.
- Any person committing a breach of the above regulations is liable to a fine of not less than £1 and not exceeding £20.

Prohibiting all Private Alienation of certain Native Land.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of January, 1914.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienations of the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienations in favour of the Crown.
