Authorizing the Laying-off of Henderson Road, in the Town of Te Awamutu Extension No. 14, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Henderson Road, in the Town of Te Awamutu Extension No. 14, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Varied Notice No. 2 fixing Closing-hours of Chemists and Druggists’ Shops in the City of Dunedin under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9.30 p.m.; except the week preceding Christmas, when the closing-hour is to be 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday; 9.30 on Saturday, and usual hour on Christmas Eve; and “Winter Show Week” closing-hours to be 8 p.m. on all nights except Saturday, when 9.30 is desired: And whereas the Dunedin City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops engaged in the trade of chemists and druggists within the city:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 1st day of September, 1914, all chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Dunedin shall be closed in accordance with such requisition, except that on Wednesday (the statutory half-holiday) these shops may reopen from 7 to 8 p.m. for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances.

The notice gazetted on the 28th day of May, 1908, fixing the closing-hours of all such shops is hereby varied accordingly.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Hairdressing Saloons in the Borough of Mount Eden under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressing saloons in the Borough of Mount Eden, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 p.m.; Thursday, 8 p.m.; Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 p.m.: And whereas the Mount Eden Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressing saloons within the borough:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 10th day of August, 1914, all hairdressing saloons in the Borough of Mount Eden shall be closed in accordance with such requisition,

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Waimate, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF WAIMATE.

In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Waimate taken on the 31st day of July, 1914, on the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow by way of a special loan the sum of five thousand pounds (£5,000) for street improvements, in constructing asphalt footpaths and concrete channelling as defined on the voting-paper in connection therewith, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 136, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 67.

I therefore declare that the said proposal was carried.

NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the poll taken on Thursday, 30th July, 1914, on proposed loan of £1,500 for metalling a portion of the Hamilton-Tuhikaramea Road in the Koromatua Special-rating District was as follows: For the proposal, 57 votes; against the proposal, none.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
