lations the candidate may be required in addition to furnish similar evidence.''

XI. As to clause 48 thereof, by deleting the clause and substituting therefor the following:—

  1. (1.) Part I of the examination for Class C shall be taken by candidates on the same conditions as those applicable to the corresponding groups of the Class D schedule, and the same entrance fees for this part of the examination shall be payable, that is to say,—

(a.) For the whole of Part I taken at any one time, or for the first section thereof comprising any two groups of subjects: A fee of £1.

(b.) For every other entry permitted by the regulations, not being an entry in a single subject as required to complete a section or to complete the part: A fee of 10s.

(c.) For every entry in a single subject as permitted by the regulations: A fee of 5s.

(2.) For subjects of Parts II and III of the Class C examination an entrance fee of £1 is payable for any section of two or more subjects taken at the same examination, or of 10s. for entry in a single subject. (For a first entry two subjects are essential, see clause 37.)

(3.) For the whole examination for Class C, Parts I, II, and III, taken at any one time, or for any combination in the same examination of Part I with Parts II and III, or with either of these parts, the entrance fee payable is £1 10s., unless for the same subjects or parts taken separately a less sum would be payable.

XII. By inserting, after clause 48, a new clause as follows:—

SPECIAL CERTIFICATES IN DRAWING: EXAMINATION IN DRAWING ONLY.

48A. To candidates for teachers’ certificates and others who have satisfied with merit the requirements of these regulations in Drawing—namely, I. Freehand Drawing, II. Drawing with Instruments, and III. Blackboard Drawing—in accordance with such conditions as may be approved by the Minister of Education, special certificates in Drawing may on application be awarded.

For such certificates no fee shall be payable, but candidates who for the purpose of such certificates or for any purpose apart from the general conditions of the examination for the classification of teachers desire to take the examination in Drawing Only shall be admitted to the examination only on payment of an entrance fee of 5s. for each branch of Drawing so taken, or of 10s. for the three branches taken together; provided that by probationers and pupil teachers in the service of Education Boards who desire to be so examined no fee shall be payable; and the conditions of admission to the examination for teachers’ certificates are hereby modified accordingly.

XIII. As to clause 51 thereof, by inserting, after the words “Class D (or Class C) examination,” the following words: “and who pass with merit in at least one of the two branches of Elementary Handwork as so defined.” And by substituting the words “in Elementary Handwork” for the word “therein” in the same sentence.

XIV. By inserting, after clause 52 thereof, a new clause as follows:—

ELEMENTARY KINDERGARTEN CERTIFICATES.

52A. On such terms as the Minister of Education may from time to time determine, certificates in elementary Kindergarten work may be granted to properly trained persons who comply with the conditions and satisfy the requirements of the special examination in such work. No such certificate shall be granted to any person who has not already served for a period of two years in a junior Kindergarten school and received sufficient instruction during that period in Kindergarten principles and practice, or who has not already attained a standard of attainment of general education not lower than that of the Intermediate Examination of the Education Department. Such special certificates in elementary Kindergarten work shall not be deemed to be certificates of competency for teachers within the meaning of section 172, subsec-
