HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of the undermentioned officers of the Staff and Territorial Force:-

Commands.

Colonel Ralph Anderson Chaffey, v.d., commanding Canterbury Mounted Rifles Brigade, to command the Canterbury Military District for a period of one year. Dated 1st June, 1914.

New Zealand Staff Corps.

Colonel Ralph Anderson Chaffey, v.d., to be attached whilst commanding a military district. Dated 1st June, 1914.

Staff Sergeant-major William Caesar Sarsfield Colclough (W.O.), New Zealand Permanent Staff, to be Lieutenant. Dated 15th June, 1914.

Sergeant-major Edward Purdon, New Zealand Permanent Staff, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 15th June, 1914.

Staff.

Captain Charles Monk Gibbon, Royal Irish Fusiliers, to be a General Staff Officer at Headquarters, vice Major James Kilvington Cochrane. Dated 17th April, 1914.

Captain Charles Monk Gibbon, Royal Irish Fusiliers, is granted the rank of Major whilst employed as a General Staff Officer at Headquarters. Dated 1st June, 1914.

Captain Clarence Reginald Macdonald, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, to be General Staff Officer of a District. Dated 17th April, 1914.

Captain Clarence Reginald Macdonald, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst employed as a General Staff Officer. Dated 1st June, 1914.

New Zealand Permanent Staff.

Staff Sergeant-major William Caesar Sarsfield Colclough (W.O.), to be Lieutenant, New Zealand Staff Corps. Dated 15th June, 1914.

Sergeant-major Edward Purdon to be 2nd Lieutenant, New Zealand Staff Corps. Dated 15th June, 1914.

Queen Alexandra’s 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles.

Lieutenant Charles Reginald Ernest Mackesy to be Captain, vice W. E. R. Mackesy, promoted. Dated 12th September, 1913.

2nd Lieutenant James Edward White resigns his commission. Dated 14th April, 1914.

12th (Otago) Mounted Rifles.

The undermentioned officers resign their commissions. Dated 23rd March, 1914:-

6th (Hauraki) Regiment.

The undermentioned officers are transferred to the Reserve of Officers:-

Lieutenant James Gatland. Dated 5th May, 1914.

Colour-Sergeant Robert Henry Daldy to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 18th April, 1914.

7th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment.

Lieutenant William Martin Hayes Diamond is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 28th May, 1914.

8th (Southland) Regiment.

Lieutenant James William Hugh Bannerman, from the Unattached List (b), to be Lieutenant. Dated 27th May, 1914.

11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles).

The commission granted 2nd Lieutenant Harold Arnold is cancelled under section 5 (a), Defence Act, 1909. Dated 24th March, 1914.

New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps (South Island Battalion).

Sergeant Harold Joseph Gray to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 2nd June, 1914.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

The undermentioned to be Lieutenants:-

Frank Lockwood Atkinson, M.B. Dated 25th April, 1914.
