That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,294 18s. 5d., authorized to be raised by the Oroua County Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of providing the Council’s contributions towards the expenditure of the Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board during the financial year 1913–1914 in respect of the following works, and in accordance with the certificates of the said Board that the said contributions are required for the purposes mentioned, namely,—

the said Oroua County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one one-hundred-and-fifteenth of a penny (1/115th) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property of the County of Oroua, comprising the whole of the County of Oroua; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A DRY RACE.

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1908.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Clyde.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, Joseph Spencer Fawcett, of Earnscleugh, Schoolteacher, hereby applies for a license for a dry race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 9 a.m. on 21st April, 1914.

Date and number of miner’s right: 21st April, 1914; No. 99107.

Address for service: Care of W. R. McKean, Solicitor, Clyde.

Schedule.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing at a point on the road at the south-western corner of Section 6, Block X, Leaning Rock District, extending along the southern boundary of said section, and terminating on other portion thereof.

Length and intended course of race: 25 chains 20 links; easterly.

Point of intake: Commencing-point.

Estimated time and cost of construction: One week; £10.

Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. by 2 ft.

Area required for construction: 5 ft. on each side of race.

Purpose for which race is to be used: Irrigation.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

INVERCARGILL TAXI-CAB COMPANY (LIMITED).

IN LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE is hereby given that under section 168, subsection (6), and section 220, subsection (c), of the Companies Act, 1908, the following resolution has this day been adopted by shareholders, viz.:

“That as the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, it is advisable to wind it up, and that it be wound up forthwith; and that Mr. F. A. WEBB, of Invercargill, be appointed Liquidator.”

Creditors are hereby notified that they must send in their claims on or before 31st May, 1914.

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between CHARLES FREDERICK LUCAS and ARTHUR SINCLAIR HIPKIN, carrying on business as Sheepfarmers at Clydevale, near Balclutha, under the style of “Lucas and Hipkin,” has this day been dissolved by the retirement by mutual consent of the said ARTHUR SINCLAIR HIPKIN.

The business will henceforth be carried on by the said CHARLES FREDERICK LUCAS in his own name, and he will receive and discharge all moneys owing to and by the late firm.

BOROUGH OF GREY LYNN.

NOTICE OF RESULT OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO RAISE A SPECIAL LOAN.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Grey Lynn taken on the 29th day of April, 1914, on the proposal of the Grey Lynn Borough Council to borrow the sum of one hundred thousand pounds for the purpose of street improvements, supply of sanitary appliances, erecting refuse destructor, park improvements, extending water-mains, erection of baths, fire-brigade equipment, extension of quarry plant, purchase of land, interest, and preliminary expenses, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 475, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 613; informal, 48.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.

POLL ON PROPOSAL TO RAISE A LOAN OF £5,000 FOR LIBRARIES.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Christchurch taken on the 29th day of April, 1914, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to raise a loan of £5,000 for providing lands and buildings, or additions to existing buildings, to be used as libraries, and furnishing such buildings with books and with all such things as the Council thinks fitting, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 2,055, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 2,668.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
