Existing Designation of a Regiment abolished and redesignated.

Wellington, 16th April, 1914.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, in accordance with section 6 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909, that the existing designation of the 9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment be abolished, and redesignated in the manner as set forth hereunder :—

1st Battalion 9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment to be redesignated the “9th (Hawke’s Bay) Regiment,” with headquarters at Napier.

2nd Battalion 9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment to be redesignated the 17th (Ruahine) Regiment, with headquarters at Masterton. Dated 27th March, 1914.

Dismissal of a Territorial from the New Zealand Defence Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to dismiss Private Ernest Thomas Bartels, 16th (Waikato) Regiment, from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, he having been convicted by the civil power of theft. Dated 24th March, 1914.

Dismissal of a Territorial from the New Zealand Defence Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to dismiss No. 31/510, Private Edward Ernest Barlow, 11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles), from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, he having been convicted by the civil power of theft. Dated 28th March, 1914.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds by the Cambridge Borough Council.—Notice No. 1733.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Cambridge Borough Council has, by special order, declared ox-eye daisy and St. John’s wort to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks III and VI, Ohura Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks III and VI, Ohura Survey District—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Ohura, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

Prohibiting Money-order and Postal Correspondence for Ludw. P. Jacobs, Hamburg.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
