1. APPLICATIONS will be received up till noon on the 12th February, 1914, for the position of Draughtsman in the Public Works Department, Christchurch.

2. Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

3. Applicants must not be more than forty years of age.

4. The duties comprise plotting of plans and sections of roads, railways, &c., from field notes, and the completion of finished drawings; making drawings of simple bridges and other structures; making tracings of plans of all descriptions; preparing maps by enlarging or reducing by eidograph and pentagraph; calculating areas of surfaces; calculating earth-work and bridge quantities; using the planimeter.

5. The position will be graded in Class VII, Clerical Division, with commencing salary of £190 per annum.

6. Appointment to be subject to the Public Service Act, 1912.
