the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby evoke Section XII of the regulations made on the eleventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 22 of the thirteenth day of March of the same year, and in lieu thereof do hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that such revocation shall take effect and such regulations shall come into force on the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.


SCHEDULE.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE.

Sick-leave, New Zealand Staff Corps, Royal New Zealand Artillery and New Zealand Permanent Staff.

  1. ABSENCE from duty on account of sickness or injury, whether the absentee be in hospital or otherwise, shall be considered leave of absence within the meaning of these regulations.

  2. All applications for sick-leave will be supported by the recommendation of a medical officer.

  3. An O.C. District may grant sick-leave in accordance with the following schedule, and will render a monthly return to Headquarters of all such leave granted:—

Length of Service. Period for which Leave may be granted.
On Full Pay.
Under 5 years .. .. 1 month ..
Over 5 years and under 10 .. 2 months..
Over 10 years .. .. 3 "

In exceptional cases the G.O.C. may take any special circumstances into consideration and vary the scale of payments.

  1. In the event of an officer, N.C.O., or man being unable to resume his duties at the expiration of three months’ leave, further periods of leave in accordance with the following schedule may be provisionally granted by the General Officer Commanding, upon the recommendation of a Medical Board to which the applicant must submit before any extension can be considered:—
Length of Service. Period for which Leave may be granted.
On Half-pay.
Under 5 years .. 1 month ..
Over 5 years and under 10 3 months..
Over 10 years .. 6 " ..

In exceptional cases special circumstances may be taken into consideration—e.g., where injury is sustained in discharge of duty and is of such a nature as to incapacitate him for all duty this scale may be varied. The period necessary for the recovery of health will be stated in the proceedings of a Medical Board held under this regulation.

  1. An officer, N.C.O., or man who has been continuously absent on sick-leave for more than three months will not be permitted to return to duty until he has been passed as fit to resume work by a Medical Board.

  2. Sick-leave allowed under these regulations may be granted in one or more periods, but the aggregate amount of leave provided for in the schedules is intended to cover a period of three years dating from the first absence on sick-leave.

  3. The second or any subsequent triennial period will commence on the date of the first absence on sick-leave following the date upon which the previous triennial period expired; and for the three years thus commencing the full amount of leave provided in the schedules according to length of service may again be allowed.

to be a Commissioner to enquire and report what portions of the Provincial District of Canterbury should be included in the Christchurch Domains District, and what portion of the cost of improvement and maintenance of the domains shall be provided by each of the contributory local authorities for the financial year ending 31st March, 1915.
