Declaring Road-lines through Land in the Hillersden Settlement to be closed.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Sur-
veyor-General from which it appears that the roads
described in the Schedule hereto are unformed and unused,
and that the said roads intersect land acquired under the
Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and are not suitable to the
subdivision of such land:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of section eighty of the said
Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do by this notice hereby close
the roads hereinafter described, and I do hereby declare
that the said roads shall thereupon become subject to the
said Act.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-
General from which it appears that the road described
in the Schedule hereto is unformed and unused, and that the
said road intersects land acquired under the Land for Settle-
ments Act, 1908, and is not suitable to the subdivision of
such land:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl

SPRINGHILL SETTLEMENT.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing
by admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 28 perches, more or less,
being a road passing through Section 119, Block III, Rua-
taniwha Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east
by part Section 119, Block III, Ruataniwha Survey District,
4500 links; towards the south by a road-line, 124·5 links;
towards the south-west by other part of Section 119 afore-
said, 4360 links; and towards the north-west by the Wai-
pawa River: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less:
as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 19462,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventh day of March, one thousand nine
hundred and fourteen.

Powers delegated to the Orari Gorge Scenic Board under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery
Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the con-
trol of the reserve described in the Schedule below (being
land reserved under the said Act), for the period of three
years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or
revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons,
namely,—

ARTHUR JOHN BLAKISTON,
WILLIAM MCLEOD,
JAMES BURT,
ROBERT YATES, and
WILLIAM ALEXANDER HEWSON,

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board
by the name of the Orari Gorge Scenic Board (herein referred
to as “the Board”), in trust for the preservation of scenery,
and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter
contained, that is to say:—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business
    in the Tripp Schoolhouse, at 7 p.m., on the first Saturday in
    every month, or at such other time or place as may from
    time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall
    be held during the month of April, one thousand nine hundred
    and fourteen.

  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote.
    The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his
    successor.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman,
    provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given
    to each member, specifying the business to be transacted
    at such special meeting; and no other business than that
    so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum.
    Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual
    meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a
    report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year
    ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a
    statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board
    for such year. A copy of every such report and statement,
    certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the
    Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible
    after each annual meeting.
