are amended by substituting the following paragraphs for the first two paragraphs of the said indorsements:—

“This summons must be served on you within twelve months from the date thereof, or within six months from the date of renewal, if renewed.”

“If the last day for delivering your statement of defence falls on a Sunday or a holiday, or on or before the 20th day of January, such statement of defence may be delivered on the day following such Sunday or holiday or 20th day of January, as the case may be.”

Amendment of Order in Council made under Section 33 of the Copyright Act, 1913.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of December, 1914.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirty-three of the Copyright Act, 1913, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the Order in Council under the said Act (relating to the extension of the said Act to foreign countries) dated the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and published in the Gazette of the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, in the manner hereinafter appearing, namely:—

(1.) Paragraph (c) of subparagraph (iii) of the proviso to clause (2) of the said Order in Council is hereby amended by inserting, before the words “the parts of His Majesty’s dominions,” the words “New Zealand or.”

(2.) Paragraph (g) of the same subparagraph is hereby amended by omitting the words “26th July,” and substituting the words “1st July.”

Authorizing the Minister of Public Works to erect, construct, provide, and use certain Works, Appliances, and Conveniences in connection with the Utilization of Water-power from Holts Creek, Otira, situated in the Westland Land District, and Punch Bowl Creek at Bealey, in the Canterbury Land District, for the Generation, Storage, Transmission, Distribution, and Sale of Electrical Energy, in terms of Section 272 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of December, 1914.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by section two hundred and seventy-two of the Public Works Act, 1908, as amended by section six of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1910, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Minister of Public Works, within the land districts of Westland and Canterbury, to erect, construct, provide, and use such works, appliances, and conveniences as may be necessary in connection with the utilization of water-power from Holts Creek at Otira and Punch Bowl Creek at Bealey for the generation and storage of electrical energy, and with the transmission, use, supply, and sale of electrical energy when so generated; also to use electrical energy so generated in the construction, working, or maintenance of any public work, or for the smelting, reduction, manufacture, or development of ores, metals, or other substances; also to raise or lower the level of the said creeks and impound or divert the waters thereof; also to construct tunnels under private land, or aqueducts and flumes over the same, erect poles thereon, and carry wires over or along any such land without being bound to acquire the same, and with the right of way to and along all such works and erections; and also to supply and sell electrical energy and recover moneys due for the same.

Authorizing the Alienation of Native Land, notwithstanding the Provisions of Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1909.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of December, 1914.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and three of the Native Land Act, 1909, it is enacted that the Governor may by Order in Council, in any case in which he deems it expedient in the public interest so to do, authorize any acquisition, alienation, or disposition of Native land or of any interest therein, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII (relating to limitation of area) of the aforementioned Act:

And whereas it is expedient that authority be granted for the acquisition, alienation, or disposition of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the acquisition, alienation, or disposition of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1909. And it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Native Land Act, 1909, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor in Council to the proceedings hereby authorized.

Whakamaru-Maungaiti Block: Approximate area, 220 acres; Te Ati-a-Muri Survey District.

Declaring Road in Block III, Ohura Survey District, to be a Government Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this seventh day of December, 1914.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a Government road.


SCHEDULE.

Approximate area of the piece of road declared a Government road: 3 roods 9·5 perches.

Adjoining or passing through Ohura South K 2, 2c No. 2 (Taranaki R.D.).

Situated in Block III, Ohura Survey District.

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 35033, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured green.
