PORT NATAL ENTRANCE.—ALTERATION IN CHARACTER OF LIGHT.—Position: On outer end of North pier. Lat. 29° 52¼′ S., long. 31° 4′ E. Abridged description of new light: Lt. occ. red, ev. 3sec., vis. 4 m. Details: The fixed red light has been replaced by an occulting red light every three seconds, showing thus—

AUSTRALIA.—VICTORIA.
PORT PHILLIP ENTRANCE.—TIMES OF SLACK WATER.—Position: Point Lonsdale, lat. 38° 17¾ S., long. 144° 37 E. Details: The note on the charts relating to the turn of the stream should be amended to read: “The tidal stream turns at about high water, and at about 2 hours after low water by the shore.” Remarks: The Australia Directory, as amended by the Supplement, 1910, is correct as regards the time of slack high water.

ENGLAND, SOUTH-WEST COAST.
SEVEN STONES LIGHT-VESSEL.—INTENDED SUBMARINE FOG-SIGNAL.—Date of establishment.—On or about the 17th November, 1913. Position: Lat. 50° 3¾′ N., long. 6° 4¼′ W. Description: A submarine bell giving three strokes, followed by a silent interval of fifteen seconds. Note.—No further notice will be given.
ENGLAND, SOUTH COAST.
PLYMOUTH SOUND, WESTERN CHANNEL.—WRECK, WRECK-MARKING VESSEL, AND BUOY TO BE PLACED ON CHARTS.—
(a.) Wreck.—Position: At a distance of 150 yards, 307° (N. 36° W. Mag.), from the Breakwater lighthouse. Lat. 50° 20′ N., long. 4° 9½′ W. Description: Sunken wreck of a hopper barge, with a least depth of 18 ft. over her.
(b.) Wreck-marking vessel.—Position: At a distance of 250 yards, 306° (N. 37° W. Mag.), from the Breakwater lighthouse. Description: A wreck-marking vessel, showing the regulation black balls by day and white lights by night.
(c.) Wreck-marking buoy.—Position: Close westward of wreck. Description: A green wreck-marking buoy. Variation: 17° W.
MALACCA STRAIT.
PULO PERAK.—AMENDED POSITION.—Position: At a distance of 3 miles, 95° (S. 86° E. Mag.), from position now shown on chart. Lat. 5° 42′ N., long. 98° 57′ 20″ E., on chart No. 793. Remarks: The position given above is that of the centre of the island. Variation: 1° E.
CANADA, BRITISH COLUMBIA.—VANCOUVER HARBOUR.
BURNABY SHOAL.—ALTERATION IN POSITION OF BUOY.—New position: On eastern edge of shoal, at a distance of half a cable, 160° (S. 45° E. Mag.), from former position. Lat. 49° 17′ 39″ N., long. 123° 6′ 34″ W., on chart No. 922. Description: A light and bell buoy, exhibiting a fixed red light. Variation: 25° E.
CHINA, SOUTH-EAST COAST.
HONG KONG HARBOUR.—INTENDED ALTERATIONS IN LIGHTS SHOWN FROM CERTAIN BUOYS.—Date of alterations: On or about the 1st January, 1914.
(1.) Cust rocks light-buoy.—Position: Lat. 22° 18′ N., long. 114° 11′ E. Alteration: The fixed red light will be replaced by a flashing white light every three seconds, showing thus:—

Remarks: This buoy is now painted in red and white horizontal bands.

Remarks: To the southward the intensity of the sound of the siren is lessened, owing to it being obstructed by the high part of the island. Note: The occasional fog-gun signal has been discontinued.

KAIPARA HARBOUR.—HELENSVILLE RIVER.—LIGHT DISPLACED.

Wellington, 13th January, 1914.
NOTICE is hereby given that the continuous light on the pile beacon in the Helensville River, Kaipara Harbour has been displaced by a passing steamer, and the piles broken off.
Pending its re-erection a black buoy has been placed about 30 ft. southward of the remaining portion of the structure, which is covered at half-tide. Mariners are warned that, to avoid the danger, they should not pass to the northward of the buoy.
